I used Yellowhammer for an insurance job in the past for full roof replace. I also used Malone to do some out of pocket work patching small area on room. Dudley Brothers also is a pretty prominent company (atleast on eastern part of madison county) to do roofing. All 3 of those have been around a while and had pretty fair pricing for the work and estimates I had. I would also suggest you check angies list (its free after you register) and gives you a longer history as well as some price guidance.

I've been *very* happy with Paul Dobbs roofing. They re-did our roof, did a good job, and he was very easy to work with. A very friendly, kind, knowledgeable guy.

We've had two different companies do work for us (replacements, not repairs). Taylor Roofing did our roof on one house -- comparatively inexpensive, hand-nailed everything, and got the job done pretty quickly. Down side was that the crew smoked all day and when all was said and done I found quite a few cigarette butts on the property (including some that had been dropped down into the soffit area, where they remain to this day. Still called them for the second job, but they declined the work because it was a steep roof, 2-stories up. For that job we used Summit Roofing. They weren't the cheapest, but they were absolutely reliable, very pleasant, conscientious about clean-up and worked their asses off. In both cases, the owners remained on-the-job for almost the entire time they were working.

About 5 years ago, Continental Roofing did most of our neighborhood. Each job came after the other neighbors recommended them. Have not noticed them for a while so don't know their current work.
