Joanne F. replied:
Erin is in remission for trigeminal neuralgia. Her drs. are not north of the river. Her surgeon was Dr. Basta. Was wonderful. Her pain management dr. was good. I will send you that information tomorrow. His name is not one that is easy to pronounce.
Jenn M. replied:
I use Dr. Hedges at KY neurology at Lee's Summit hospital she is amazing with my rare condition
Sara A. replied:
Emily and I both go to Dr. Sarah Hon at Northland Neurological at NKC Hospital. Another friend goes to Dr. Hollenbeck (sp?) in that same office.
Whitney S. replied:
Thanks Joanne Finley, I will look forward to getting the information. My friend is actually in Chillicothe and has to commute wherever she goes, so north of the river is helpful but not necessary. She needs someone who can handle very special cases. They don't even know exactly what is wrong with her but she has been working with the Carrack Brain Center in Texas and they want to get some good doctors on her case up here to pool information with. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3 tQtAs3 d05E, Sara Azdell, Emily Duffey, do you guys know your doctors well enough to know if they are particular advanced in their field and handle difficult cases?

I highly recommend Dr Davaluri, he is in Saint Joseph but I worked for him and I was a patient. He is the best! He goes to other offices too.
Michelle G. replied:
I believe my mil sees Dr. Davaluri. Don't know if he is good or bad but she has been going to heartland for years.
I don't have the messenger app but its 816 234 3090. That should be the direct line to the neurology clinic
Deaunna L. replied:
They haven't done an eeg on him to determine the base of the problem? You can always ask for a 2 nd opinion. Dr Shah was ok, but ask to be seen in KC at children's mercy. They have the best specialist hands down. I transferred all my sons care to there. If you have a medical card they provide the transportation to the hospital. Is he having grand mal seizures? Or do they know what type?
Deaunna L. replied:
Request it from Dr. Shah, let him know u would like a 2 nd opinion. You can even call the children's mercy clinic, and ask them what all would they need from your doctor so you are able to come to their clinic and get a 2 nd opinion about your sons condition and the care plan that is in place
Can anyone recommend a neurologist in the KC metro area?
Katy M. replied:
Sort of depends on their sub-specialty in my experience. I have had 5 neurologists for different needs. In general, though, if you can see Dr. Camarata at KU Med, I think you'll like him. He was my co-brain surgeon in 1999.
Alison S. replied:
Steve Arkin at St Lukes South
Alison S. replied:
Dr. Arkin is very handsome, if that helps.
Katy M. replied:
I daresay Dr. Camarata will give Dr. Arkin a run for his money.
Katy M. replied:
Dr. Gordon Kelly is also good, and Dr. Lehman, who saw me as an inpatient at Menorah. Can't remember his first name. He may be retired by now, but he has a kindly demeanor. I also have an otoneurologist and a neuro-opthalmologist (sic), if you have an ear-brain or eye-brain problem.
Heidi R. replied:
Dr. Siley is good!
Mary V. replied:
Dr. Robert Beatty in Overland Park 106 th and Quivera. EXCELLENT! and you'll love his bow ties:)

Dr. Reilly at college park. She specializes in neuropathy such things. And I used to work for her:) the group is the best!
Alice H. replied:
Dr Boatwell at St.Lukes on the plaza she is the best Iam going there myself
Katy M. replied:
I did see Dr. Kelly for neuropathy in my feet. The pins and needles and sometimes burning feeling. He ran all the appropriate tests, etc. It's not one side of your body, is it?
Katy M. replied:
That always seems good if it's not on one side. From my assemblage of neurologists, I would rec Dr. Camarata first and Dr. Kelly second.
I need a good neurologist pronto (no need for panic) anyone have a good recommendation?

Time to find a new neurologist. Anyone have any recommendations for a excellent movement disorders specialist?
Allison B. replied:
I had LASIK with Dr, Doane. I thought he was great!
Della B. replied:
I can give you the name of the neurologist/neurosurgeon that did my back surgery. He's tops in his field and has patients come from out of the country to see him. Dr Frank Holliday. He would be a drive for you as he is located at the Legends (on 110 th Street). I got the referral from GEHA as my second opinion-sure glad I didn't stay with my first one!!!
Dr. Miran Salgado at NY Methodist Hospital. He has two offices, one in Park Slope and one in Staten Island. He diagnosed me with 10 minutes of our initial consultation. He is chief of neurology so there are many doctors that work under him that are willing to take care of his patients. He is very intelligent and resourceful. He includes his patients in their treatment options and makes informed decisions with evidence from studies found in recent medical journals. This doctor saved my life.
