So if I ask the question, "Who is the best chiari surgeon in the country" who can answer that? Question that's been on my mind for some time now...
Sarah A. replied:
Dr Rosner North Carolina:)
Aimee K. replied:
If you can get in with Dr. Ellenbogan! He looks at an mri that's it.... Then he decides if he will see you! Never actually talks to you... Sad
Jessie G. replied:
Dr. Gerald Grant. He was at Duke but he transferred to California because he was so good! He is a children's doctor though.
Wendy F. replied:
Dr Herbert Fuchs at Duke University
Jessie G. replied:
Duke University is the best place to go in my opinion! Other doctors were calling me crazy but the doctors there took very good care of me!
Kathy S. replied:
We like Dr Frim in Chicago. Dr Bolognese was also good when we saw him. I wouldn't recommend anyone in Washington or Oregon.
Jessica D. replied:
Dr. Oro in Aurora, CO. He gave me back my life which lasted about 10 yrs.
Amy B. replied:
I will always recommend Dr. Ellenbogen in Seattle, Wa. He specializes in Chiari in kids and adults. He also happens to be the co-chair for the NFL head, neck, spine committee (previously called he concussion committee). He did my surgery in 2009 and it looks like my son wil be seeing him wihin he next couple of months.

Hey everyone I need advice!!!! I just found out today that I need surgery- they need to get my thymoma out asap- its growing fasttt. They wanna do the surgery within...
Myasthenia A. replied:
Heather, here is a brochure about thymectomy: http://www.myasthenia.org/docs/MGFA_Brochure_Thymectomy.pdf That's good they are taking your thymoma out - for some people with MG, thymectomy is optional, but if you have a thymoma it needs to be removed as it is a tumor. I'm not familiar with surgeons in your area, but hopefully your doctor who wants you to have it removed can recommend someone - it will probably be a thoracic surgeon, and ask if they have done thymectomies before. Hopefully your symptoms will get better after removing it!

Both Dr. Kaye and Dr. Jiang at mercy are very experienced and good with clefts. I don't know the new Dr. Goldstein, but he is taking over dr. Singhal a patients. If willing to drive, Dallas craniofacial center is probably the biggest and best in the country.

I took my son to Dr. Jeffery Marsh, a craniofacial surgeon in St. Louis. He is world reknown. He did my son's sphinter pharengealplasty surgery for a plate issue due to him having VCFS. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I was referred to Dr. Marsh from a craniofacial specialist who had been at CHOP in Philadelphia.
