Does anyone have a referral for a veterinary oncologist in Knoxville? At UT vet school maybe?
Of course I can google. I'm looking for personal recommendations.
Thanks!

Yes, my favorite Oncologist left UT for private practice in Knoxville. He is at the Critical Care and Referral Center. Dr. Jeff Philips - 865-693-4440. He's great!!
Yelena A. replied:
In that area, I'm partial to UT. Al Legendry is one of the most well known and respected oncologists in the world, even if he is not seeing clients he heads that department and consults. You'll have other treatment modalities (radiation etc) under same...See More
Cathy C. replied:
Dr. Legendry is in semi retirement. Doesn't come into the hospital much anymore. Stick with Dr. Philips.
Yelena A. replied:
Never met him, I'm sure he is great. Dr Smrkovsky is fairly well known, I never met her personally but I hear a lot of good feedback. The other Doctors sound new - or at least in the last 10 years lol
Carlene S. replied:
Thank you so much everyone. UT could not get us in quickly enough and we got an appointment with Dr Phillips at 4:00 today. Thank you Yelena Arkadya, Cathy Caruba-Bridges, Laura Baum, Liz Cepero and everyone else who reached out to me.

I highly recommend UT Vet School. Granted, I don't have experience with oncology, but I worked with them a great deal when my dachshund's back went out. They were amazing.

Yelena, my vet is Dr.Brown he owns Farragut animal hospital . He's older & he's amazing with fur babies . His bedside manner & compassion is unreal . I called him for Carlene Steenekamp & without hesitation he called me back and referred Dr. Phillips ...See More

I'm so sorry to hear that you need that, there is a oncology specialist in Nashville that is supposed to be among the best in the country. It is Dr Lee at Brentwood Blue Pearl.

I am a vet here in town and I very frequently refer to Dr. Phillips. I've had good experiences with sending my patients to him. ;)

The UT Vet School has an Oncology Service

My client and friend Angela Witzel Rollins is a professor at the UT Vet School. She is an expert in pet nutrition but I am sure she could help you.
Liz C. replied:
I think the oncology department has changed quite a bit since I've been there but Dr. Smrkovsky is very good. The whole department is great though
My oncologist believes my cancer has spread to an area in my abdomen and behind my sternum. Due to the nature of pancreatic cancer and the toxicity of the chemo regimen...

Sorry Lisa Marshall. Keep the faith. Clinical trials do great things. You will be the one we read about in a medical journal that they found the cure on. Continued prayers. God works wonders. Look at dad they gave him 24 hours to live, no heart muscle left and he lived approx 20 plus years and even built a house doing the manuel labor. Have faith. Call me if I can help in any way. Big hug.

Praying for you Lisa! You may want to ask if the proposed clinical trial is offered at Sarah Cannon in Nashville. We offer a lot of the same ones and it could keep it close to your family. If you have Any questions I'm happy to help!
