Hi all swimmers. I've just been told off by my optician for swimming with my contacts in - looking into prescription goggles. I spent ages finding the right pair of...

http://www.prescription-swimming-goggles.co.uk I've tried a number of pairs from here; currently using the Swan Optics ones, but I think I have a funny shaped face as I struggle to find non-leaking goggles even before I switched to prescription ones...

Sutton and Aqua Sphere both make good ones!

I got someone to try out Aquasphere prescription goggles a couple of years ago http://www.outdoorswimmingsociety.com/news/333-prescription-goggles-aquasphere There is an increase in options ( again for negative dioptre) with Speedo Pulse optical lenses and Mariner lenses, I have heard Asda do prescription goggles.
Ghislaine C. replied:
I use those from Sutton. If you prefer not mirrored the website has dozens http://www.prescription-swimming-goggles.co.uk/swimming-goggles/sutton-swimwear-mirror-opt1200.html

Have a look here. Got mine from these guys, the OPT1200 I use but there are others on there. Do some fairly strong prescriptions. http://www.prescription-swimming-goggles.co.uk/

Also aquagoggles.com have served me well for years. Small lenses if you like that, and tinted. I've also had aquasphere eagles, also very good although they seem to fog up more...

I second Butterflies health care. Biggest range, good customer service and returns. If you need perfect vision then they can get them made up like real glasses. But if u don't mind not quite perfect they have lots for £20-£30 in very high prescriptions which aqua sphere don't.
Iain M. replied:
Butterflies Healthcare have a really good range of prescription goggles and masks, and you can order a different prescription in each lens (unlike the Asda ones mentioned above) but if you have astigmatism be sure to read their instructions about how that affects the lens strength that you should order.

I use Aquasphere Eagles and they're amazing. Plus if they eventually need replacing, you just need to buy replacement lenses, not the complete goggles.
Susanne M. replied:
Really strong advice against wearing contacts while swimming sounds over cautious. But your sight is worth that caution! If you can't get prescription goggles to meet your needs see the answer to question 4 here from Moorfields eye hospital http://www.moorfields.nhs.uk/content/your-contact-lens-questions-answered
