Anon: hi, I'm looking for ante natal recommendations. I haven't discussed with my midwife yet but I am conscious there are a number of options and they can get booked up...
BabyCalm J. replied:
offer an antenatal workshop which can be taken at any point in pregnancy. Our antenatal workshop is different to others as it focuses on what to expect once your baby is here. It is designed to introduce parents-to-be to reasons why babies are fussy, cry so much and sleep so little. As well as showing you ways to calm a crying baby we will show you how to calm colic and encourage your baby to sleep well so you are confident and prepared for parenthood! Dates for the workshops can be found here: http://babycalm.co.uk/teacher/sarah-holmes/classes.html If you'd like to book a space, or would like some more information, then you can message me via Facebook or email me on sarahholmes@babycalm.co.uk

I haven't started my classes yet but hypnobirthing with June Poole has been highly recommended by a number of my friends.
Lena S. replied:
Hybnobirthing with June Poole!i gave birth last month and had a very positive birth experience!wouldn't change a thing!the class is small (max 6 couples) so you get individual attention. Well worth the money! http://www.hypnobirthingjersey.com/ all the best for your pregnancy

Hi I am a doula and placenta specialist. Here is my page https://www.facebook.com/NatalSerenity feel free to message me if you have any questions x
NCT J. replied:
The NCT run antenatal classes locally. They are a great source of information and advice, there will be no more than 8 couples on the course which allows plenty of opportunity to ask any questions you may have. It also includes a dedicated breastfeeding session with one of our breastfeeding counsellors. Email bookings3 a@nct.org.uk for more details
Sarah L. replied:
I would highly recommend the following, I found it a lot easier (and more effective) than hypnobirthing. If you have any q's please message me. http://www.marisapeer.com/product/pain-free-hypnotic-birth-download/

See Jim West's book on ultrasound scans. He claims that this is the real reason for the autism epidemic because the scans damage the fetal brain. They also act in synergy with the vaccines. http://harvoa.org/

There's some information about volunteering with nct here: http://www.nct.org.uk/get-involved Or the nct also provide formal training to become teachers or breastfeeding supporters: http://www.nct.org.uk/nct-college . Chippenham and District and Marlborough branches of NCT are on Facebook if you wanted a local contact initially. All the best with following your dream!
Steph C. replied:
No problem Kirsa Edwards, I agree with all the above. If you want to be a midwife eventually look out for a job as a Maternity Care Assistant or in Oxford they are Maternity Support Workers. You work closely alongside the midwives and will give you an insight into whether you may eventually train. You will get masses of clinical experience and you can do the job with no training (all given on the job) and also part time. Be ready to work long shifts and Christmases etc!
Christine B. replied:
You could contact the National Childbirth Trust locally and see what they suggest. .
Danielle B. replied:
I work at Chippenham Birthing Centre as a Maternity Care Assistant, such an amazing job but unfortunately these jobs don't become available very often:( Keep looking on NHS jobs site, you need an NVQ to even apply, hope you find something, I'm happy for people to pm me for more info xxx
