Hi ladies,
I have a new mum (a doula client of mine) in Herne Hill and I was wondering what baby groups there are locally? Anyone go to any groups/clubs that they would...
I would recommend the children centers, Jessops,Rosendale, Effra & Treehouse, they are free and offer everything from breastfeeding support, baby massage, first aid, stay & play & wriggle & rhyme. There is also Gymboree but haven't been so not sure if its any good. 'Bea's music bop' at The Florence is good once baby is a bit bigger, whippersnappers is at the lido (not been so not sure what its like) and when baby is a toddler there is toddler yoga at the lido which is really lovely and good fun and would def recommend. Hope that helps.
I have a friend looking for a Doula in Jerusalem. Any suggestions?
Leora S. replied:
My doula Naomi Lavi 0527203378. Not Jerusalem based specifically, but might be willing to travel? Incredibly calm, kind, professional, into alternative remedies and methods, qualified in accupressure, pregnancy massage, reflexology. Highly recommended!!
Leora S. replied:
Otherwise she can be added to Brand New Mamas Group on facebook, huge amount of information for Jerusalem based mums and mum-to-be and a long list of doulas. Also really recommend Shimrit Cohen Doula who I used for my birthing classes!
Does anybody know of any antenatal classes in march me and my partner can go to please? Thanks in advance :)
Nicole L. replied:
Ask your midwife. Is there anything in particular you are looking for, or do you specifically want to go to an antenatal class? I'm a doula, and live in March, if you need anything, let me know. http://doula.org.uk

Hi Sophie Beresford, I'm an independent midwife and do antenatal classes where I come to your home when it is convenient for you and your partner. I can do days, evenings or weekends. Whenever you want. My website is simplebynature.wix.com/simple-by-nature. I currently have an offer of 20% off all classes. X

A doula is the one thing the nhs won't recommend, because heaven forbid women should have the birth they deserve, with the respect they deserve and with the help they most certainly need. Well done Mothercare for fuelling the small mindedness of Briti sh parents, too blinded by the 'let's see birth as a medical emergency' attitude to see that it could be all so different! Doulas are available for all regardless of class, ethnicity or wealth. Whether you have a vaginal birth or a c section, she'll be with you every step of the way. From the first contraction till your babies safe in your arms. You may regret many things during your labour but hiring a doula is never one of them www.doula.org.uk
Reader question: "Am considering having a doula for my second birth - has anyone had one and would you recommend?"
Jessica H. replied:
I had a doula for my second birth also and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. It is important to find someone who you genuinely connect with. Have a look at www.doula.org.uk
