Does anyone know of an OBGYN that takes new patients?

Corel Med- at Atwater. Dr. Bakare5147378397 She is an amazing doctor. She has two offices- one on the West Island (don't have that number) and the one at Atwater.

If you can get a referral Dr Hum accepts new patients... well, last I heard he did. He's affiliated with Jewish General:)

Call the association! AFAIK, it's against every kind of Canadian prenatal best practices to reject a woman who is three months pregnant for health care, especially with the excuse that she's too far along. They should be able to refer her to a midwife who will sit down with her. http://www.rsfq.qc.ca
Marguerite B. replied:
The Herzl family medicine clinic at the Jewish general has a lot of docs and residents and she may be able to get a doc there. I had my first baby there and I met many great, open minded doctors on the team. It is really hard to get a midwife even a month into pregnancy. I have been in a similar situation in the past. Good luck.
Does anyone know how to go about finding an OBGYN in the West Island, mine passed away and the phone number is out of service. Other than waiting 5 hours for a referral...
Maria V. replied:
In terms of finding doctors who are willing/able to take new patients. The West Island is not all that helpful. In my own opinion. I reached out to a few clinics in downtown, not only were they incredibly helpful, and kind. They are also taking new patients. This is where I go. Call them, and explain to them the exact details of your current situation. It's most likely that they could help you. I hope! Medic Elle. (514) 788-2888 1980 Sherbrooke Ouest. Easy street parking and 5 mins walk from Concordia metro station.
Cynthia B. replied:
Dr Gilles Mercier. 1 Holiday, Pte-Claire. Best around.
Tara M. replied:
You'll have a hard time finding one as wonderful as Dr Bray. I had an awful experience with the first one I tried. Now I'm back to Square 1. I'm having a serious medical issue and he couldn't have been more callous. Avoid Dr. Kawerk.
Michele L. replied:
Try Brunswick Medical Centre
Kim W. replied:
Try Dr. Simon she is on st-johns near the 20 in the shopping mall on 2 nd floor. (514) 697-1417
Maria V. replied:
Dr. Simon was my former OBGYN. She's very cold, unkind, rough, and very poor bedside manners. I didn't like her one bit! In my own opinion, I wouldn't recommend her at all. She treats you like a number, not like a patient.
Lynn B. replied:
DR. Barkare!!!! She is the BEST!! But I believe you need a referral.
I met a young woman, on our rounds in ile bizard today. She is new to the country and 31/2 months pregnant. She asked if I knew any doctors that would see her....
Stéphanie G. replied:
Dr Josyane Thomassin at Médicentre Kirkland.

I would recommend she heads to the Red Cross situated at PCHS. If this doesn't work out, look up Action Jeunesse de l'Ouest de l'Ile (AJOI), the outreach workers there will be able to direct her towards the proper ressources. It's a free service for the west islanders in need
