Such an important story to give voice to-thank you! Even though not many people talk about it, pelvic floor concerns are SO common. Really awful that you have had to deal with this. Lots of wonderful resources here in Ottawa.... 1) I second Lisa Flanders from the OIHC (she also does 15 min phone consults if you have questions beforehand). 2) Andria Bell and myself facilitate the Ottawa Chapter of Birth Trauma Ontario. We meet the 3rd week of the month at the OIHC on Carling at Holland. (I see someone posted the link up above to the closed fb group) 3) For counselling I highly recommend Michelle Glover from Full Circle Counselling (she is in Westboro). 4) I also offer birth story healing-private sessions, workshops and online courses. I gave birth at the general twice and twice at Monfort. Once during renovations was scary once they were done there new wing is awesome. My OBGYN saw me all through pregnancy but did not deliver any of my babies as he was not on call. Dr. Daniel Moreau in Orleans. I would have prefrered a woman but he was awesome for care and one of his daughters is now practcing with him and his wife is the nurse. And yes for Monfort better english service for my husband than at the General

Dr Laura Gaudet she is at the Civic( high risk unit ) and also on Cleopatra. This women loves what she does and has been my rock through the past almost 9 months of hell. Dr. Laura Gaudet holds a Doctor of Medicine from Queen’s University where she also completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She then undertook subspecialty training in Maternal Fetal Medicine and a Master’s of Science in Epidemiology and Community Medicine at the University of Ottawa. Currently, she is a practicing perinatologist at The Ottawa Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of Ottawa.

Dr. Sunita Lal on Merivale Road is amazing!! Had her for both my pregnancies and I delivered at Queensway Carleton. During both times, this hospital way exceeded my expectations!!!

I met Dr. McKinnon on the worst day of my life and she made things not only better, but clearer to me. Her patience and excellent bedside manner put me and my husband at ease. I used the services of the wonderful midwives at the midwifery clinic in Vanier. They were so lovely, supportive and well-informed. They also have privileges at the Civic hospital, but are delighted to work with mamas at the birthing centre (which is a 5 minute drive/ambulance to the general hospital should the need arise). I delivered at the Civic, and labored in a tub. It was nice. Both my supportive midwives were there to help me stay on the path of my chosen birth plan, but were flexible when I required something. I wanted to go without drugs, as much as possible, and had studied some hypnobirthing techniques months in advance. These were extremely helpful in combination with the tub to ease my pain. I ended up being induced with oxytocin, and needed fluids, so it was a good thing I was at the hospital. I was comfortable and relaxed, and all the staff were lovely. I do highly suggest you get a semi-private room, however, because otherwise, you'll be in a crowded ward room, trying to rest, while other new mamas are getting visitors, etc. My roomie was chatting on speakerphone for hours. It drove me nuts. I would also like to mention that the postpartum care and support is amazing. You will get to take your baby home within a few hours of delivering. And they'll come to your home within 24 hours. Then the next day, in three days, after a week, and then you go to their office for the last couple visits. You have their support 24/7 for six weeks postpartum. They explained everything to me (poop is supposed to change colour on a certain day??) And were informative without judgment.

Brigid and Wendy are my midwives and Tess is also amazing. They all are. They work as a team They have all.provided me with support and calls even when I've been freaking out at 1 am

Hi, I can recommend dr. Craig E. Campbell. He delivered both my children (my boy is now 4 months old) at the Civic Hospital. Dr. Campbell looked after me throughout both pregnancies (high risk) he is very good and reliable. His office is at the Riverside, but he also practices out of the Civic, I am not sure about the General. Good luck!

My OB is Dr. Nadine Doris at the health centre on cleopatra. She was wonderful while I was pregnant. If she doesn't do them someone in that building would
