Hello fellow social workers, wondering if you all know of some tenant advocacy agencies in the Pittsburgh area?
Matthew R. replied:
It depends on the reasons. If the eviction has anything to do with a equal housing violation, the Fair Housing Partnership might be able to counsel them on their options. Otherwise, they might be able to refer them to someone who can. http://www.pittsburghfairhousing.org/
Matthew R. replied:
Come to think of it, neighborhood legal services might be a better place to start. http://www.nlsa.us/resources/landlord/housing.html
Kate B. replied:
Seconded. I've gone to Neighborhood Legal Services for this and they were very helpful. Also, obviously no substitute for legal counsel, but I'm attaching a few documents which may be helpful, one is a tenant handbook from North Penn Legal Services & one is an eviction pamphlet from Pennsylvania Legal Aid. http://www.palawhelp.org/resource/self-help-handbook-for-tenantshttp://www.palawhelp.org/files/A50D42DC-FCAA-1883-E79C-9619DF2007FA/attachments/0A12F8F6-A3C9-CA09-8A4D-0CEEBA071D3F/123921Brochure%2019_Tenants%20Being%20Evicted_Brochure.pdf
20 Year Reunion Brainstorming
OK, Rosie & Kathleen et al are probably going to kill me, but....I thought it would be fun to get some ideas for our 20 year gathering...
Joe P. replied:
Once the schedule comes out for the high school football games, we could try and organize a group of people to go it if it is close (like Bethel Park or USC) and then get together informally at the Saloon or Molly B's after. I also vote for Dan P. and MJK to play that night as well. We could definitely schedule them both to play if we schedule it now.:)
Nikki T. replied:
Instead of putting Dan P., MJK, and TK on the spot like that, why don't we just have a redo of the Senior Holiday Show? Eric Lingenfelter & the other guys dressed in 80's glam rock drag, MJK & the other ladies rockin' it out with the ripped t-shirts, Ray-Bans & big 80's hair...:0)
does anyone know of any local businesses that would be willing to donate to charity events without a 501(c)3?! i.e. raffle baskets, gift cards, etc...
all suggestions...
