i can highly recommend The sound choice on se powell http://www.oregonsoundchoice.com/ i worked there briefly as a installer, and the whole shop very install based (as opposed to selling you a phone based) is the deck turning on and not functioning, or not appear to be getting power at all?

Sorry don't know any good shops but are you just looking for a basic car stereo that plays CDs and radio? You didn't mention what kind of car you have but it really should be a basic install if you have a couple extra hours. I am sure someone on here or a friend would help you install it, especially if you offered them an adult beverage or two for their time.
You can go to Walmart/Best Buy/etc and pick out the stereo you want, get the wiring kit, and maybe a dash fitment plate/bracket (but you probably can use the one you currently have from the previous install). All you need to do is twist the wires from the wire kit to the wire harness that comes with the stereo and then plug the other end to the car. And then install screw in the stereo to the bracket and then the bracket to the car.
If you can provide the make/model/year of the car and your budget/needed features I can help point you in the right direction.

Sound Choice on Powell is where I had my most recent work done, they did good work. I usually go to Mobile West on NE Broadway but they seem to be really busy these days.
