Stevens Auto Restoration 174 th off of Powell in Portland
Garrett H. replied:
You have to be cautious with the type of paint that is already on the car, that is why most body shops wont touch older/classic cars. I know that this place is highly recommended with older paint types. http://www.superiorperformancenw.com

Modern Classics runs a nice shop as well.

Chris B. replied:

Jeff C. replied:
Ok if you're not a professional detailer that's been in the industry a while... sit down and take a few notes. Chemical Guys, Adams, Poorboys... There are very few actual car chemical manufacturers in this country. Nearly all of their chemical products are relabeled or proprietarily modified http://www.warnerchemical.com
Jeff C. replied:
Sonax mentioned... German company. Some pretty cool products for sure. I got to play with their new compound and polish at the most recent SEMA. Not shabby. Does it matter? Blah. Don't get sucked in to marketing hype and over priced boutique bs unless that's your thing. High end detailers have mostly all moved to coatings and away from waxes and sealants. What does your car really need?
Joel F. replied:
Jeff Campbell and Rye Zimmerman are right. Lot of marketing bs. Coating this crystal glass that. Sealing this and what not. Don't get sucked into the hype.

West Slope water disrtict changed the hardness of the water, now i'm left with dried water spots. Anyone know a good method to remove from car and glass?
Ryan S. replied:
https://www.facebook.com/PremierDetailPDX/
Nicholas S. replied:
If the water spots are fresh and haven't etched deep into the paint film you can try a chemical to dissolve the mineral deposits. We use a product called CarPro Spotless. You can also try something like vinegar to dissolve away the residue. If the mineral deposits are allowed to dwell and the paint goes through multiple hot/cold/wet/dry cycles the spots will etch deeper and deeper into the paint and will require heavy polishing, or sometimes wet sanding, to fully remove.
