Sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I work in the same office as Jim Chestnutt at Gabriel park family medicine and sports clinic. If he is not available then Ryan Petering or Melissa Novak (also a runner) are good too. 503-494-9992. I hope you feel better soon

Dr. Diaz through providence is sports doc and GP he is the doc to the Timbers at the games as well.

Chronic compartment syndrome needs RICE like all other sports injuries. You can see a sports medicine ortho like Jim Chestnutt or Nels Carlson.

Matt Walsh - pt at rebound and some new place on Hawthorne. Injured my calf two weeks before Boston. He's the only reason I finished the race. He's worked with some Nike elites, too

I have seen Dr. Pearce at Rebound twice and he seemed to be a good doctor.

We represent a lot if pedestrians & cyclists (I work in a law firm), and James Chesnut is able to help our clients who have soft tissue I injuries such as yours. He's at OHSU.
Evička V. replied:
I'd say Dr. Howell at Portland Integrated Health and Sports Medicine. As a runner himself he can give you some great advise and diagnosis for running connected injuries.
Richard L. replied:
Lots of good options, Jeff. From what I know, I'd start with someone like Melissa or Dr. Howell, or Back in Motion, who can get you in quickly. Not that it's an emergency, but it's one of those things that tends to come back on you endlessly if you try to wait it out. There are other more common things that do that, too, btw, especially in the calf (good old fashioned knots or what Noakes calls "chronic muscle tears"), so I wouldn't put too much stake yet in the diagnosis you've been given, other than as a possibility to consider.
All right, y'all. I officially need a good PCP in the Portland area. Preferably one with Osteopathic/Naturopathic focus and some Sports Medicine background. Wow....

Portland.. Anyone know of a good sports medicine orthopedist?
Samuel H. replied:
Well, I don't use an orthopedist. I use a sports clinic chiropractor who specializes in awesome. I only go to him when I have blown anything, lowerback, torn left calf muscle, torn lower right leg, regular body maintenance. Back in Motion Sports Injury Clinic, and his name is Dr. Ted Forcum. I go because of the Graston he performs to get the soft tissues working properly. I refer EVERYone to him.
