Reliable, Interstate and Excellence auto carriers have all been very good to me for enclosed. Interstate was very competetive. All are haulers not brokers. Be careful of brokerage. It can go well but also be a nightmare.

I've heard great things about Reliable: http://www.reliablecarriers.com/. I used http://www.intercitylines.com/ to get my car from St. Louis to Portland but it took a while for them to fill a truck for the NW. They seem to be more of an east coast and California company. So while they did an awesome job, I'd probably use Reliable if I had to ship again.

I used http://www.shipacardirect.com/ to ship my Mazda 3 from Portland to Boston, MA. The process was pretty seemeless, communication was constant, and delivery had no issues. It was recommended by a friend who've also used them to ship the car he sold. My 2 cents.

I think the PPB takes people to warming shelters during cold snaps. If they do a welfare check they may try to get him there.

This may be a good time to call the police non-emergency number. The operators, or the police in the area, often have background information on certain people or know what is going on in particular situations. If he's been out there in this state for 24 hours, they may have already checked on him. I looked into CHIERS but they're only for people who need a safe space to sober up. Non-emergency number: 503-823-3333

>It seems like a hospital may have discharged him without anywhere to go and nobody to help him. This would be extremely unlikely in Portland. The Portland hospitals are all very good, and very experienced dealing with the homeless and making sure not to discharge people to unsafe areas. It's much more likely he refused assistance, in which case, the hospital legally can not hold a patient unless they are an acute danger to themselves. Not having a place to go is not an acute danger to themselves. A hospital can't hold a homeless person against their will just because they are homeless. Now for constructive advice; I'd call the police non-emergency number.

Is there any update on this?

Thanks, everyone. Reddit is a wonderful and supportive community so I knew you would help. One of his old schoolmates was with him this afternoon so I gave him a fuzzy blanket to give to him. We called an ambulance, which he refused but they finally got him into one a couple of hours ago. I hope he doesn't end up back on the street.

I've used [Super Shuttle](http://www.supershuttle.com/Home.aspx) a few times, and it's been relatively painless. It picks you up any place and within in a 30-minute window. About $22 one-way. Uber looks cool, but it's $75.

I say try Uber, they have really good reviews. You don't have to pay to subscribe to register with them.

I've had moderate success using [Denver Town Car](http://denvertowncar.com/) when booking for travelers. Only on occasion have they messed up. Usually the mistakes are on the return side so at least there are taxis to use in lieu.

Going to Gencon for the first time. We are staying at a hotel near the airport.
Would you recommend we get a rental car or Uber/taxi each day? Is parking rough?
Thanks.
Mark T. replied:
Lucas Oil Stadium parking is $10.00 per day and a two or three block hike. Not bad unless you are late for an event...then...it's a bitch...been there and done that.
