Can anyone recommend an English speaking GP who doesn't work at Unicare, Motol, Homolka, Polyklinika Narodni or any of the overpriced expat haunts?
Just a GP with a...
Andrea G. replied:
I go to Jana Sternova. Decent, not great, English. Seems competent. Easy location near Vinohradska Pavilion and she takes VZP. Her prices are normal Czech doctor prices, not expat prices, if you don't have insurance. But wait, as expats we MUST have insurance so you are probably fine either way. http://www.sternova.cz/
Alzbeta B. replied:
he's not IN motol hospital - it's a neighborhood, called Motol, on the slope below the Na HOmolka hospital.:) it's in a residential building downstairs, private office.
Charlie W. replied:
all my friends and myself have been going to Dr Sasek for 10 years in Poliklinika narodni. he lived in and worked in the US for 20 years so his English is absolutely perfect and he is an exceptional doctor! If you want his contact information send me a private message and ill be happy to give them to you!
Charlie W. replied:
I guess no one read what I wrote. I suggested you go to Dr. Sasek who is my doctor. He works at Polyklinika Narodni, but I was suggesting you go to him as his English is perfect and he covers all insurance if you have any. It was only a suggestion and my English is fine mate
Martin H. replied:
Dr Grohova does our company doctoring. 200 Kc, perfect English and in Karlin.
Do you speak any French? If so, Dr Balde on Italska.
Alzbeta B. replied:
Dr. Milan Pavlata is a fantastic GP and speaks several languages. He practices at Na Homolka, but he also has a private office (don't be put off by the appearance of the building his office is in - it's not fancy at all - but trust me, he's great) in the neighborhood below Motol. His office hours and address is here: http://lekar.zdravcentra.cz/ordinace_kudrnova/ (you just shopw up, he takes insurance, and his prices for paperowork and exams are regularly priced - I think an exam for employment is in the hundreds).

Rebekah S. replied:
Non-VZP options I know of: Hope and Healing (http://hopehealingprague.com/index.html) offer counseling for donations or sliding-scale based fee. Counselors are Americans and wonderful to work with. The therapist I see doesn't accept any insurance, but she's English and accepting new clients. Plus she's fabulous. (http://dancetherapy.cz) Or, I also know that my colleague's husband is a professional counselor with many years experience. I could get his contact if you'd like. He's Czech, fluent in English - his wife is American. I've no clue if he accepts VZP, but can also find that out.

when I was looking for English Speaking GP in Prague, I was told to contact VZP directly, and ask them for the list of English speaking GPs who accept this insurance... VZP should be able to provide the same for any specialist, I think
