Anyone have recommendations on a good quality, English speaking, eye doctor that will update my prescription? I've gotten my prescription done at walk-in eyeglasses...

Hello guys!!! I am looking for a optical center where I can find, in Prague, glasses from brands like: Miu Miu, Dolce & Gabbana Fendi, Givenchy, Dior, Jimmy Choo, Tom...
Lucie B. replied:
Some of these high-end brands can be found at Optika Poličar. http://www.optika-policar.cz/

Peter Maldonado true enough, but there are sites out there that can show you how to properly take your measurements and compare them online. Personally, I cracked the lenses of an old pair of RayBan Wayfarers and rather than throw out the frame, I just got them fitted with prescription lenses at Eiffel Optical and BAM! new glasses LOL
Recommendations for a English speaking eye doctor? I have an eye infection and need to see someone I can trust

I can recommend the eye clinic at Vojenska nemocnice. They take walk-ins. Most of the doctors there would speak English, but to be sure, you might want to call and double-check if the one on duty today or tomorrow does: http://www.uvn.cz/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=49&Itemid=76&lang=en

Motol is the biggest hospital in the country. http://www.fnmotol.cz/en/ The admitting nurse may not speak English but many doctors do, and well.
Katerina H. replied:
yeah, although if you tell your cabbie Nemocnice Motol, they'll know. Depending on where you travel from, there are quite a few buses that go there, the stop is called nemocnice Motol. http://www.fnmotol.cz/en/practical-information/jak-se-k-nam-dostanete/
Katerina H. replied:
(Btw Motol has a foreigners' department as well but that's for people without Czech insurance. It's not outrageously expensive but you shouldn't have to pay anything as you have Czech insurance.) I believe the 90 czk fee still applies for emergency/urgent care visits, you need to go to a machine with the sign that says REGULAČNÍ POPLATKY or something to that effect, throw in coins and get a little receipt which you then present in the doctor's office to the nurse as proof of payment. But if you only have paper money they also have machines that will give you coins. The nurses and doctors at Motol, like at any huge hospital, can be anything from indifferent bordering on rude to extremely helpful and sympathetic... so - good luck.
I'm looking for a good web store to buy contacts cheap.....something similar to 1800contacts.com which I use in the US.

Why bother with a German site? I've been using http://www.cocky-kontaktni.cz for years with nought a problem. Quick shipping, usually goes out the day you place your order, in your hands the next morning, and you can pay with a US credit card.
Staci H. replied:
We went to the optical shop in Novy Smichov for contacts and they told us that there are no contact lenses that correct for astigmatism. Does anyone know whether this is true? Or is this just a Czech thing? I don't remember this ever being a problem in the US and our son's vision is pretty blurry with the contacts the Czech shop insists are right.
