Looking for recommendations for pediatric optometrist. My little one has an eye that is presenting a little bit 'lazy.' Thanks!

Terri Kline Kissiah, go see Heritge Eye Care. My youngest has been seeing Dr. Yoakam since she was four. He is great!
Alicia M. replied:
We went to Dr. Mackowski. She was great. Now we go to Duke Ophthalmologist since our insurance changed and she doesn't take it. http://drmackowsky.com/

Hi Terri Kline Kissiah. I just went to Raleigh Opthalmology today for my son's lazy eye. My son actually has a lazy eyeball, not eye lid. The Dr was quick and knew what he was doing for sure. Feel free to PM me if you want to
Amy B. replied:
Julie Clay Faison, care to chime in?
Tammy J. replied:
I was referred to Dr. Board a few years ago with my son and did not like his chair-side manner at all. We ended up going out to UNC and we're fortunate to not need surgery.
Courtney M. replied:
Dr Board!!! He's the BEST! Spends time with his patients AND answers this mama's questions without issue and the office staff is great too!
Erin T. replied:
I am one of the few who did not love Dr Board. We did however have and amazing experience with Dr Enyedi at Duke. 200% different experience all around.
Tracy R. replied:
Dr. Jeffery Board with Raleigh Eye Center. He specializes in kids. Our son was 3 1/2 when we noticed his left eye was lazy and went outward. Dr. Board was amazing and patched it on and off for a year. He never likes to do surgery before age five. He decided he needed the surgery before 5 and his eyes are absolutely perfect. He is now 6 1/2.
Karen W. replied:
Dr. Enyedi
Tina C. replied:
We saw Dr Board for grandson. He has a good reputation, but was incredibly rude, and got annoyed when we asked questions. My grandson wound up going to Dike Eye Center instead. He was followed by Dr. Enyedi. She was wonderful.
Courtney B. replied:
Dr. Board, hands down! My sister has a "lazy eye", and he was phenomenal with her! He is now my daughters eye doctor!
Kelly P. replied:
Dr Freeman is the best! Chelsea had 2 cataract surgeries this year with her and A potential lazy eye. I would highly recommend her!!
Amanda G. replied:
Dr. Durham at Brier Creek Vision Care. The whole staff is amazing and have been so helpful handling my daughter's strabismus. I can't recommend them enough.
Aimee M. replied:
Jack goes to Dr Board. He's a pediatric ophthalmologist.:) He's had strabismus surgery so call me if you have questions if you go that route.
Louise E. replied:
Dr. Roberts with NC Eye Ear Nose & Throat did my daughter's strabismus surgery at age 3. She is fantastic. Now, at age 10 we see her every 6 months for a check up. Even though it's quite a haul to Cary, I wouldn't trust anyone else with her vision.
Need Optometrist Recommendation. No corporate chains. Hi, I’d like to find an Optometrist in Raleigh -- a practice owned by an actual Optometrist or a group of them. ...

Dr Beyer at Triangle Visions Optometry has been excellent for me. He's a genuinely great guy.

Dr Rousello at Preston Optometry - http://www.prestonoptometry.com/ Been going there for years, always have a good experience (as good as going to a Dr. can be, I suppose!).

If you're already at Crabtree try Sears Optical. Diana just got glasses there. No insurance though.

Eye Care Associates! Dr. Steele on Six Forks!
Debbie M. replied:
I bought a new pair at Eye Care Associates in Jan and decided I didn't care for them to much so I went back to Walmart to get another pair. Walmart was 1/2 the price for the lens and I cannot tell any difference in the two pair. BJ s and SAMs Clib Are also great.
optometrist recommendations I am in need of an optometrist preferably in the Raleigh area that handles at least vision checks and glasses.
I have already tried Raleigh...
Z4CX replied:
The optometrist I use is in wake forest off new bern, called My Eye Dr. I've had great experiences with them. As far as buying glasses though the cheapest in town is probably at BJ's. They have an optometry department that you don't need a membership for and the prices are really good. The BJs I went to is off capital.
rangerm2 replied:
Depending on where you are, there are several Walmarts that have optometrists offices in them. Walmart doesn't own them. They sublease the space. I've had decent experiences the last couple of rounds at the one in Fuquay. You don't have to get your prescription filled at Walmart. In fact, I ended up at My Eye Dr (in Cary) to get mine filled.

MyEyeDr with Dr Joyce off of Strickland and Leesville. Always had top notch experience

I go to Dr. Canting at Preston Plaza Optometry in Cary - awesome doctor and staff http://www.drcanting.com
oakcityhokie replied:
I would recommend Kelly Eye Center in Brier Creek! They actually caught some unusual measurements in my eye that no other doctor had mentioned in the past. I'm not much of a fan of their glasses selection, but exams were great!
redditrdu replied:
I use the Triangle Visions Optometry in Raleigh & I've had no bad experience with them.
Is Raleigh the most blind state in the union? Every optometrist is always booked solid here!!!!!

Rachel W. replied:
Crazy! Do they have some kind of store that sells eyeglasses that also offers exams? That's what I did after calling around to booked Optometrists. I got in the same day! Try a place like Eyeglass World or Costco.
can anyone recommend a great ophthalmologist? We are not looking for an optometrist. We need an opthamologist. Any recommendations, we will be very, very thankful.
Liz B. replied:
I don't know if you're looking for a pediatric one or not but Dr Jordan at Raleigh Opthalmology is great! They have adult ophthalmologists there too:)
Brandie K. replied:
Sarah goes to Dr. Jordan also. He is great at what he does, but not Mr. Personality. He will warm up to you after a while though.
Alisa J. replied:
I love love love dr Enyeti (sp) at Duke Eye Center in Cary (at regecny park). She is the one who saw Evie and she is AMAZING! I cannot recommend her higher.
ISO: optometrist that doesn't dilate your eyes at visits. Not happy with current place in Wakefield. Ty
Becky H. replied:
Dr Merkel in Rolesville has the new technology for an eye scan as opposed to dialation. It was $30/40 ish I think? Whatever it was completely worth it! I always have good experiences there
Lisa C. replied:
Vision park in Raleigh. Dr. Ann Moore. They have a machine that can see the inside of your eye without dilation. I think it costs $35 or something like that for the test. Good luck.
Lisa C. replied:
Thanks for the heads up Tammy Lynn on vision park. Will have to find out what's different!
Amanda C. replied:
Eye dialation is usuall6 done dependant on age, health issues, and percrpition strength of eye glasses.... it is optional, you can request it not be fone anywhere you go. I know Eye care associates on s. Main didn't dialate me, but i just have a very s light astigmatism and need reading glasses. Got my glasses in 7 days too. Would recommend them. They DID dialate my 5 yr okds eyes though bc it was her first visit so they needed more detailed retina photos.
Jennifer T. replied:
I always have a choice at Heritage Eye Care
Terra J. replied:
Dr Merckle at North Wake eye care doesn't dilate. It's a bit extra, but totally with the cost!
Do any parents recommend a good optometrist in the Raleigh area that's comfortable and good with children? :) Thanks!
