I use Orthopedic of Rochester next to FF ridgeway, Dr Little. I walked in Tues morning with my ankle and got an apt w/ the PA at 10:30 am same day.

I always get a referral from MSU Vet School...there are some excellent ortho surgeons at Blue Pearl in Grand Rapids, but very $$$$$...State is simply a wonderful teaching hospital

PM me if you need more info but Dr. Nick Schuett out of Pewaukee Wisconsin is fantastic and he works with field trial dogs to get them back into competition. My girl tore her CCL training for trials. She ran like the wind. I️ used him after a ton of research. My girl is now 100%. He has done 1000’s with ZERO catastrophic failures. He does a Tightrope with swivel lock technology. He scopes it so the rehab time is far less. Hydro therapy is included in his price. I’m completely confident my girl will run trials this spring. She is already hunting and back to training.

In Romeo, MI at Wilson Vet Clinic is orthopedic vet Dr. John Wilson. He did the last follow- up check on our Chessie after surgery in Florida. I think he is good. They also have rehab facility there. Good luck!

Dr. Fisher at Michigan Humane Soc. Vet. clinic does a lot of knee surgeries. You could get the initial exam. and surgery quote at the Rochester clinic. If that is closer to you. But he does the surgeries at our Westland clinic. Canton Center Animal Hospital has a DVM that does knee surgeries. Otherwise Michigan Vet. Specialists, or M.S.U. small animal clinic does knee surgeries. Your main concern is to make sure you are going to an experienced vet. Not someone who has only done them a few times.

In 1983, while working long ours at KSPN-TV and doing a part time overnight radio show, I had long work hours and little time to get out skiing. I am/was a speed demon: New York State medal in track (880 relay sprint) so when I went out skiing at the Highlands that winter, I got into just "tucking" and seeing how fast I could go. Just straight downhill was my game that winter. Also, my ski boots were recently stolen so that day I had to use rental boots, bad fit & sloppy. I was tucking Upper Jerome as fast as I could go. I came to Lower Jerome at full speed and somebody was stranding there. In a tuck, with my Ray Bans on, no helmet, I face planted that poor fellow right into his knees at full speed. I was ready to get up after a few minutes and ski down but the ski patrol, including Tom Snyder arrived.

Dr. Dan, after my ski crash, did 3 separate surgeries on me. Implanted a plastic cheek-bone. I received over 1,000 stitches. Because of the many stitches, no one can really know that such devastation was implanted upon myself by myself.

I'm going through my second TPLO surgery on my 2 year old chessie... She had her right leg done last year and her left leg 2 weeks ago.... It's not easy.... medication helps and the vet advised benedryl helps keep the dog calm along with trazadone which is what was prescribed to us.
