Starting to think this shoulder injury is NOT going to heal on its own. Any recommendations for a good orthopedic surgeon? And anyone had shoulder surgery that can...
Heather P. replied:
I don't know which insurances they take, but you can call and ask. Both Will's and my treatments were fully covered by insurance. Just call 800-404-6050. Tell them you want to see Dr. Bankson. Her office is across the street from the church.

Ralph "Bud" Curtis at Sports Medicine Assoc (the practice cares for the Spurs) 699-8326. I've seen him for my shoulder issues, David Schmidt (Spurs team doctor & the MD who did not give up even though it took 4 surgeries before I could walk again after my MVA) referred me. While in residency Bud was Dr. Rockwall's chief (Dr. Rockwall is the inventor of the shoulder replacement).

I don't know how bad your injury is, but I had right shoulder therapy at Pinnacle Wellness with Dr. Q. Ho in the Ridge Shopping Center where I work. Dr. Q. does an amazing job! My shoulder and arm feel great! He even helped my knee injury caused by someone rear ending my car. It turns out, having your foot on a break and getting hit significantly hard from behind misaligned my knee. My knee is now aligned and I am doing great thanks to Dr. Q. Ho! I honestly thought I could never run again. Now I just need to make time to run again.

definitely have it examined before opting for surgery... I know you've received a lot of recommendations already, but may I add one more? I see this Chiropractor/Kinesiologist who is able to resolve a lot of issues without surgery (even when "specialists" highly recommend surgery), so it may be worth trying. And the way he adjusts people is very minimal and NOT at all like your "typical" chiropractor. (even Eric refers him to people, and he is SO skeptical of Chiropractors, etc) Dr. Courtney Owen (on San Pedro, inside 410) 210-342-1356
Grace C. replied:
Nena, my I suggest you try Dr. Q. from Pinnacle Wellness, before you have shoulder surgery. I too had constant pain lifting my right arm and I also couldn't sleep on my right side too. I'm am doing well because of the therapy I received. Surgery is so invasive, expensive and should only be as a last resort.
Anyone know of a good orthopedic surgeon in Tyler or San Antonio area? My knee needs some attention.
Rob S. replied:
I just saw Dr Schreiber at Tyler joint and spine. Had MRI today, going to schedule surgery tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.

And he sounds Muhammad-ish. I don't do Muhammad-ish. May plant an exploding cell phone in my knee cap then, I'd be like Lieutenant Dan!

My Dad Dr. Norton is a 5 star rated surgeon and has done more successful knee replacements and operations than I have taken breaths. So unless someone you know has personally had their knee screwed up by his negligence then I would recommend him any day. From what I have seen though Jennifer Pritchett most people who had bad results ruined it themselves because they did not follow the doctors orders afterwards. I will see if I can find someone for you up here in SA. My dad went to med school in SA so I'm sure he knows some one. What are your symptoms?

Dr Beck at Texas Spine & Joint is great! He is also president of the Texas Orthepedics Assoc. Fixed my knee 4 years ago! Great!
