AND no MATTER WHAT, make sure that you use Ben Moore's Natura, Yolo or other NON VOC paint- VOCs are found in most paint and it's very toxic and take up to 7 yrs to off gas. with the little one on the way, you should stick to VOC free paint. What kind of painter? Acrylic? Water? Oil?

if oil, i recommend a mixed bristle, half synthetic and half sable. used to use something branded "Mixtique". I liked "filbert" tip brushes best, personally. get her a little thing of brush soap too.

I prefer synthetics because the bristles have less of a tendency to come off while you're painting. Animal hairs are a real pain to weasel out of paint without damaging the painting, and cheap animal hair brushes have wider hairs and leave more visible strokes. Get a combination of "flat" and "round" brushes (search for brush types in google). You can probably buy them individually at a store like Pat Catan's without buying a set. Just get a good combination of large and small flats and rounds.

If you have a [Hobby Lobby](http://hobbylobby.com/) close by, they have 30-50% deals on Master's Touch brushes. Next type I would recommend are Liquitex but they are much more expensive. [Dick Blick Art Supply](http://www.dickblick.com/stores/promotions/?promo=Holiday2011 landing) is a favorite site of mine to shop at due to deep discounts and quality products.
