Looking to buy new bikes for me and my son. Any local or close by place you'd recommend? I was thinking about Sammy's but it sounds like it's really expensive. Thanks!

Bicycle Heaven in Geneva on 38 & 31. Very helpful & nice. They really care about your needs & price point. We bought our bikes there several years ago.

Bought my new bike at Mill Race, they are busy on weekends so expect to wait a bit for service, but the guy that helped me (can't remember his name but there are 2 of them that work there) was very informative and spent as much time with me as I needed. They worked with me on a price that I thought was fair given that the bike was almost a 3 year (new) model.

Mill Race and a few other shops sell off their rental bikes at the end of the season (now). They are usually well maintained good quality bikes too.

All Spoked Up in Batavia is great, and will give you personalized service. They do a lot of work for local charities fixing old bikes and donating to those in need

There are a few excellent ones around! Prairie Path Cycles in Batavia, North Central Cyclery in DeKalb, and and Main Street Bicycles in Carpentersville are my favorites. All of them have great, helpful people! Main Street has layaway, too. They'll let you pay them off over the entire winter, that's what I did last year. Super nice people!

Bike Rack on Campton Hills Road. Been family owned for 41 years. We have a wide range of prices and might even have a refurbished one. We're primarily a Trek store.

Walmart bikes are a sure fire recipe for disaster. They are the worst of the worst. Try Pedal and Spoke on 31 in Aurora. They have been in business many years, and they are also bike builders. Ashton, the owners son, builds frames and bikes from scratch. Their knowledge and commitment is unsurpassed.

Geneva Cycle Shop next to the Mill Race Inn (opposite Mill Race Cyclery). Yes, Ellis is a character, but extremely knowledgeable and will find just the right bikes for you.
