To my local Illinois & STL friends..my friend Lori is looking for the name of a GOOD Neurological Surgeon for her back or experience with someone you would NOT...

I agree with Michelle. Go across the river. The ones over here are in Illinois are limited on their knowledge. My neurosurgeon Dr. Saleem Abdulrauf is excellent. He performed my craniotomy and he is head of the Neurosurgery dept at SLU. He was referred to me by the neurosurgeon at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago when I had a seizure there while visiting. 314-577-8715

My husband Paul Santiago is a neurosurgeon specializing in spine at Barnes/Washington University. Let me know if you still need info.

I've heard that Dr. Poulos at the Southern IL Brain & Spine Center is good. I've had several clients who went to him with good results. Selwyn Picker is a neurosurgeon at Mercy. He has done a couple surgeries on my dad (saving him from becoming paralyzed) and another doctor from his practice did another (all between 2007 &2011). All went well. Also Dr. Picker is adorable and hilarious.

My husband had two herniated discs and Andrew Youkilis did his surgery and Rob had immediate relief. Andrew Youkilis, 314-878-2888.

I had Doctor Chien out of Sparta Il. He does all his surgery in Farmington Mo. He did my surgery on Jan. 7 th 2013. I am really happy with my surgery. He put a titanium rod and 6 screws in my spine. I am walking and doing great. You know my number.

Like Paul, I recommend Dr. Robert Backer at Mercy. He also has privileges at Mo Bapt. Had surgery in 2007. Felt better immediately!!!
