Recommendation needed. The foot and knee Dr recommended by the hospital has bad reviews. Can anyone recommend a northern Virginia surgeon for me?

I also use Commonwealth Orthopedic. My particular doctor is Brantley Vitek. They have offices at INOVA Fairoaks and Fairfax.
Sharon E. replied:
Dr. Merhdad Malek did my knee surgeries. He did a good job with them. I went to him for a broken wrist and a badly sprained ankle, too (not at the same time, though, and that's a good thing).
Sharon E. replied:
The Anderson Clinic has very good doctors. Dr. Lovallo removed a cyst from my hand. Dr. Albrigo did a friend's knee surgery.
Frank G. replied:
I went with Dr. Frank Pettrone@Commonwealth Orthopedics -right down the road from EMW. He works on many football players in the area. Did good work on my knee.
Bill S. replied:
My orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Thomas Fleeter, is fantastic! Chose him several years ago based on reviews, and haven't been disappointed since. Has performed two successful surgeries in our family, and has give me very sound non-surgical advice. (E.g. "it'll take care of itself if you just stop running for 8 weeks.) Has treated several pro athletes. Offices in Reston and Centerville; see Town Center Orthopedics.
Darcie M. replied:
Commonwealth Ortho!
Rhonda R. replied:
Fleeter and Pettrone are both good. If you go with commonwealth be sure to only use docs who have foot specialty like him. Dr. Rubinstein is an excellent podiatrist if you want to go that route.

If you are a male athlete, you might get good care at Washington Circle Orthopedics. Many people recommended it to me when I was looking for a new orthopedist after getting extremely shittay care from...Washington Circle Orthopedics. Presumably because I don't look like an "athlete" (am a petite woman) Dr. Lutton *completely* blew off the calf muscle I had torn in a sports conditioning drill. No imaging, no PT, just a boot for a few weeks and then he called it good. A year later at my insistence he grudgingly gave me a prescription for physical therapy, where the therapist was amazed I was even able to walk and spent 6 very painful weeks breaking up the scar tissue.

Any suggestions on fundraisers for a teacher with ongoing cancer bills? BCBS only pays so much and Emory oncologists and dermatological surgeons are expensive. Are there...

Melanoma.org has some good information and links to financial assistance. Make sure your doctors know your concerns, not just the staff.

Your school might do one. They can ask for donations or have a special day that kids or teachers pay to be a part of. The VFW does fundraising, Most of the time its friends or family members asking for help for a particular family . Laura Clark Helps with bike rides.
