This may be a bit far for you, but I drive down to Richmond to my neurologist: [John Wittman](http://nairichmond.com/physicians/profile/John-J-Wittman-MD). I have terrible pain in my foot from peripreheral neuropathy and his recommendations for medicine has helped more than any other of the 3 other doctors I went to. I'm still in a bit of pain now, but I'm functional and actually able to run nightly I could barely walk before treatment. I just googled him, and it seems like "grades" aren't the best unfortunately. He's a bit terse, but I think that's more from being soft spoken rather than rude. I know it's a bit of a drive, but he really helped me.

I don't have a recommendation but just wanted to wish you luck. I have a lot of neuro issues and am still looking for a neurosurgeon that specializes in my issue in the area. For now I'm driving up to Hershey for my yearly check-ups.

I've been seeing Drs Dietz and Kurtzke at Neurology Center of Fairfax since May for ulnar neuropathy. They're very thorough. Sometimes I feel like they order too many tests (I've had two EMGs, one 1.5T MRI, one 3T MR neurogram, and an ultrasound), but overall I really like them.

Doctor Pedro Macedo. His contact info: Washington Medical Group, PC 1327 18 th Street, N.W. Washington, DC 20036 Tel: 202.785.2400 I have suffered from Migraines my entire life, i've been to Hopkins, i've traveled to see "top neurologists" Dr. Macedo, in ONE VISIT; which would normally take several and testing out different medications. Not only properly diagnosed me, but set me on the right medication on the first visit. He's knowledgeable in his field, and truly cares about his patients. The only downside is that he ALWAYS RUNS LATE, and the receptionists need to be replaced. Try to get his first appointment available.

Being from Cleveland and having seen almost every neuro there, we saw Dr Laux in Chicago prior to moving to Colorado! Good luck. If this is a question of surgery or not, Harry Chugani in Michigan is your man! We've seen him too!
Janell B. replied:
Dr. Jamie Dawn-Twanow in Columbus. She is one of the best. She worked in Chicago. Her dad is my son's pediatrician and she was his neurologist until she left for Ohio. Easy to talk to. She found my son's blood disorder and his digestive issues. Highly. Highly recommend her!
Annmarie F. replied:
If you decide to travel to Chicago- our Pediatric Neurologist Dr. Michael Kohrman is wonderful. He is at Comer Hospital, which is part of The University of Chicago. We also had a great neuro-surgeon there too. Has your neurologist suggested a VNS yet? That has cut our Logan's seizures down tremendously! He is constantly having sub clinical seizures and the VNS has slowed those down! Plus as he has a seizure we can see, it stops the seizure much faster - than previously. You can read about our son on his FB page under "Logan's Link"
Janell B. replied:
Annmarie Duszynski Fanning we see Dr. Kohrman and Dr. Marcucilli at Comers. Love the staff there.

I am changing Neuro's myself and called the local MS Society chapter for helpful hints, they said compare MS Clinics in your area, and then see which one see's the most MS patients per year, so I did this and found a neighbor with MS who goes to the same clinic, and has for the last 13 years. I guess the leads were good. I hope this helps.

Sean G. replied:
Scherokman was my neurologist through Kaiser also. I didn't like her a whole lot. She tried prescribing me Methadone for my pain. I feel that was an overkill. She did refer me to Dr. Gottesman at Hopkins who I previously mentioned and I loved her.
Cardiologist today said that everything with my heart is good no problems. He did suggest seeing a neurologist, but we already know that I'm crazy! :)

Derek J Sauchuk, we have had patients' younger than you that passed out and had severe head trauma. vasovagal syncope was the cause. No test can ne taken, only symptoms. Remember, that is just 1 cardiologist opinion.
Bev R. replied:
Derek J Sauchuk, we had an event last night. Vasovagal.... Patient fell off the toilet seat. Patient a few years older than you, and broke her cheek, a couple of teeth and her nose in 2 places. Like I said, there are no test to be done to diagnose this condition, they only go on symptoms. Your fall in the shower from a vasovagal actually could of killed you if you have fallen the wrong way. A while back, one of my nurses that I am good friends with said her son was just peeing, and this happened to him. Broke his arm and facial area. He was a mess. Mostly ER and trauma centers see this. That is where I do my work, Trauma in the ER. Thinking of you.
