Any recommendations on where to buy high quality furniture? I know of Jordans and bobs. Any other spots in the area? Thanks!

I would not put bobs and high quality in the same sentence. Not high quality. Bernie and Phyls is awesome!!

If you want super-high quality, try Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams in Boston or Design Within Reach in Cambridge.

We did a tour of most of the major furniture stores in the region, and finally made our purchase of a new bedroom set at Bernie and Phyl's in Saugus. My gut reactions to some of the major stores: Jordan's Furniture: Walked around the store several times (yes, the movie theatre is a draw) and never found anything we liked. Bob's Discount Furniture: Cheap, but so is the furniture. Some of the display items showed poor workmanship and poor quality. Bernie and Phyl and Boston Interiors: We found things we liked in both stores. Ultimately, for the bedroom set, Bernie and Phyl had a bigger selection and was more competitive in pricing. Both stores are on US 1 in Saugus, just down the street from each other. I would visit both. Note the context - I trend toward traditional furniture, so my impressions is based on a certain bias in my tastes. Circle is a very good store, but their style doesn't resonate with me.
Brenda P. replied:
Stay away from Bob’s. You want high end you are best off at a Barbo’s or Ethan Allen. Jordan’s is okay...but there furniture is middle of the road

We had Lazy Boy (not reclining styles) when our kids were younger, and bought from them again because their furniture held up so well. Showroom is in Saugus. Note to self... measure the entrance point in for furniture before you buy.

Arlington's own Shaker Workshops (across from Old Schwamb Mill) sells Shaker-style pieces (mostly chairs and tables, nothing upholstered), all furniture is made at their facility in Gardner, MA. Good to point out that they have a sale once or twice a year, usually 20% off.
Lauren L. replied:
And if you like the Arts & Crafts look, Stickley Furniture in Natick has a very wide selection. Again, wait for the sales, which are frequent. N.B. that they do have a production facility in Vietnam and not all of their pieces are manufactured in the U.S..

Depending on what you are looking for, we have had great experiences with Cherrystones right here in Arlington. We have a dining room hutch and entertainment center, beautifully made. They will do custom work. http://www.cherrystonefurniture.com/. Also Arhaus, now in Burlington Mall.
