Hi.... Dr. Paul Moore for an endo. I had a MASSIVE tumour (baseball size). We weren't able to verify whether it was cancer or not prior to surgery. But he always left the choice in my hands, gave information, was easy to get hold of, his office is really flexible. He's really great! It wasn't cancer, I'm almost 3 weeks out on having had my total thyroidectomy. Struggling with levothyroxine. But I know he'll talk to me tomorrow! I wish you the best... the thyroid journey is NOT fun. Please PM me If i can help in any way....

Dr. Daniel Slaughter at sinus and snoring did my surgery. He is amazing!! He said the softball size tumor he took, along with my thyroid, was the largest he'd ever seen! My scar is only noticeable if you're really looking. I highly recommend him. Dr. Shaw was my endo until my primary took over.
Dottie has a question, can anyone help?
(My suggestion: In addition, look for a functional MD)

Dr Scumpia
Corinne M. replied:
Dr. Ozer. He is in the same practice with Dr. Shaw. Texas Diabetes and Endocrinology. They have an office on Deep Wood Dr. next to Round Rock High School.
Wild stab in the dark - does anyone in Austin have/know of a good endocrinologist? The last one I went to was truly appalling.
Christopher H. replied:
If you can get in with Simone Scumpia, her practice is pretty great. Or Thomas Blevins. He's great, but a little weird haha.
Andrea M. replied:
Simone Scumpia is who I saw last. She charged me a couple hundred dollars for under three and a half minutes and didn't read my chart. Her first question was, "so you don't have any thyroid problems, you're just here to check it all?" I wrote Hashimoto's in quintuplicate on the paperwork she was holding.
Throwing this out there- does anybody have a good Endocrinologist in Austin?
Brian R. replied:
Depends on what you're seeing them for-good chance you will see a mid-level on your first visit and then you'll be cycled through the system depending on the need for follow up. Having said that, I would go to Stephanie Shaw in Round Rock...I'm sure there's a full spectrum of positive and negative reviews out there, but my docs refer to her and that's what I look for when trying to determine how "good" a specialist is. If you are limited to a few options in your network, PM me or call me and I'd be happy to check into it for you.
Dana R. replied:
Thomas Blevins took great care of me during my whole brain ordeal. I still see him once a year and he always remembers every detail of my case. He's incredibly kind & that goes a long way in my book..
