If there is possibility of Lyme, there is a pretty simple antibody test that will indicate if your body has fought that disease. I never knew I had gotten Lyme until one of my dr's did that test. John Stratidis, M.D at Danbury hospital is a Lyme specialist, but you will need a referral from a primary doctor.
Rachel V. replied:
Dr. Steven Philips in Wilton, a brilliant compassionate, and cautious MD/Lyme Specialist. He will take time and carefully treat/diagnosis. Sean Carney of Newtown--a naturopath who studied with Dr. Horowitz also supposed to be very good and finally, for a clinic staffed with Lyme literate doctors that take insurance--check out Your Health 1 st in Milford--they will work with insurance and specialize in treating Lyme as well as other medical issues. Please be careful of MDs who don't believe in Lyme and are very quick to recommend anti-anxiety/anti-depressants when they can't figure it out. It is very challenging as a caregiver finding the path--figuring out the mystery. Jennifer Reid of the RIdgefield Lyme Task Force is an invaluable resource and helps connect dots as well as runs support groups, etc. She has one workshop for parents of Lyme kids coming up in March. Also be aware some labs are better than most for running Lyme tests--Clinical Labs near Adam Brockericks has wonderful staff, more accurate labwork than other local labs. Stay strong--it's not fun!
