Fort Wayne friends....can anyone recommend a good primary doctor? I have a cold and sore throat that I need to get rid of. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
Caleb E. replied:
497-0084 Like I said, I think he is the best, spends ALOT of time with you, but he can be hard to get into. He also is a Christian.
Jess A. replied:
we love our dr., but she's in Leo - not sure if you want to go that far. Dr. Sarah Schilehttp://www.lutheranhealth.net/interior_dyn.php?content=docs_detail&t=1623
Heidi B. replied:
Vitamin C 3000 mg a day and Zinc for your sore throat. Echinacea is always good to take also.
Caleb E. replied:
Dr. Peter Jakacki is amazing! Just sometimes hard to get into!
I have over a dozen symptoms of a low functioning thyroid. My primary doctor said my symptoms sound like hypothyroid but my lab tests for my TSH came back within range....
Kathy H. replied:
With your recurrence of yeast infections, you may have Candida which is more common with people with autoimmune diseases. I have not been to her but what you are describing Dr. LaSalle may be your best option for help to get to your root cause as she takes insurance. As someone else suggested The Root Cause is also a good book to help.
Britt S. replied:
Juice plus! Website http://www.experiencejp.com They have short video clips you can check out. I have a client on the product and she is off all her meds and feels better than ever.
Carmen P. replied:
I went through this exact thing a year ago when my last child was 8 months old! I gained 20 lbs within 2 months, my skin became very dry, i also was going through medical exhaustion because she was waking up every hour. I got all the T3-4 and several other tests including a blood screen. Everything came back on the low side of normal. My OB put me on 5 k IUs of vitamin D, 200 mg Selenium, Ferritin/iron (i bought a Blood Builder from health food shoppe) and aB complex. I purchased all high quality raw or while food supplements. Within a week i felt a huge change.
Amber W. replied:
Dr. Gladd, but he doesn't file insurance. He tests thoroughly for thyroid issues, among other things. Also, although you eat very healthfully, your body may have issues with insulin as it related to grain carbs. Gladd will also look into this and talk to you abt how insulin is related to weight gain even with a good diet. I was eventually put on a healthy paleo plan and weight dropped like crazy.
Jennifer R. replied:
Dr. Angela LaSalle, but in the meantime while you wait to get in, I agree with the above comments...if you can strongly ask for a complete thyroid panel, you really need to get one. Dr. LaSalle does the same thing as Dr. Gladd but files insurance. She is a Parkview Integrative Medicine doc.
Christine G. replied:
Check out Dr. Kadambi! Also, an Intergrative Doc as well:) And check out the book, "The Root Cause"
Ashley U. replied:
We have a great family doctor, but I don't think he is good in this area. He won'tdo a full panel because my numbers were in range.mi read on a thyroid specialiasta website that you are high risk for hypothyroidis above 2.0. Mine was 2.56. The Vit D deficiency is something to consider. I moved here from Mississippi almost 3 years ago. I went from being outdoors all year to indoors much more often. I was rarely sick before....since the birth of my third child last Sept, I have had strep throat three times in a row, had multiple bouts of thrush and a yeast infection, severe panic attacks, gained over 20 pounds, and constantly feel extremely overwhelmed and nervous. I'm just feeling like I'm at the end of my rope. I'll check into some of these doctors as well. Thanks so much for your input.
Considering switching to an integrative primary care physician. I need to stay in the Lutheran Health Network. Any suggestions?
Meredith G. replied:
I think https://www.facebook.com/1229858713798528Fort Wayne Integrative Medicine Vishaal Veerula MD might be it that takes Lutheran insurance. I could be wrong.
I am in need of recommendations for good pediatricians/gp's who are not too pro-vax. We have an insurance issue with dr. dillon and need to switch in the next week. ...
Fort Wayne friends, I need your help! My insurance through my new job is Lutheran preferred, and Luke and I both had a parkview physician. I am heartbroken about having...
Nina A. replied:
Mary Frey I agree with U.!!! Always have dealt with Dr. Gutierrez@FWP... shes great!
Kyla N. replied:
Hahaha, that is so cute! Luke is going to be seeing Dr. David Rusk, he has an appt on Valentine's day. Mitchell and all of his siblings went there, and his mom said he is fantastic. It's soooo scary entrusting someone new with my infant's healthcare!!!!!
Kyla N. replied:
I shouldn't be as nervous as I am! Hahaha. I cried when I found out he and I couldn't go to Dr. Ehrhardt anymore. she is an internist and a pediatrician, so we both went to her. She was even his round doc when he was born. I am a big baby. Hahahaha
Mitch M. replied:
My wife works at Lmg as am RN and she suggested Dr. Stinson... She said she has heard great things about her
Mary F. replied:
I get it Kyla...about insurance. We are looking for a new family practice doc ourselves. Our fave doc for yrs for Bill and me was Dr. Watson with Parkview First Care...he moved to Huntington a while back. We like our new doc. But, he is so busy and i feel like he doesn't KNOW us like the old doc. Change is hard. I know u tho. U will search tirelessly until u find the right doc for u and it sounds like Luke is in good hands with the fam's fave doc
Alyssa O. replied:
I work for Dr Mike Mohrman and he is great! But if you're liking for a lady doc, I hear Dr Girod is very good. She's at the Brooklyn office.
Samantha W. replied:

Would love your suggestions for a Fort Wayne-area GP doctor and an OB- GYN within the conventional medical system (needed for tests etc.) who are inquisitive,...
Sarah G. replied:
A lot of people like Sara Schlie in Leo.
Brianna M. replied:
Dr. Stroud hands down
Amanda K. replied:
He is very conventional but, may be the most compassionate doctor I have ever seen. I am not in good health so, I have to function in the standard medical system for some things. I see Dr. Sanjay Patel. 260-432-2297 new patient visit will take you a bit to get in but, that is common with well liked doctors. Only thing he has ever said that upset me was he asked recently if I was going to give up nursing now that my child is 17 months and my health is getting worse. When I said no, he said "well, we will reevaluate if you continue to decline" not a horrible answer I guess. He listens and spends tons of time with you. Be prepared to wait your turn but, you get as much time as you need. Worth it to me for me cause I am extremely complicated.
Christa M. replied:
another vote for Dr Stroud.
Michelle W. replied:
Thanks all - got appt. booked with Dr. Stroud (they are booking 3 months out now); Dr. Patel and Dr. Schiel not accepting new patients sadly. Any more suggestions on GP/internal medicine doctors?
Stephanie M. replied:
I see Michelle Hileman at Auburn OB-GYN. She is a midwife and they have a doctor in their practice. I'm in Fort Wayne and it is worth the trip.
Brittany G. replied:
I like Dr. Melissa Walther
Kelly J. replied:
^I have heard good things about Dr Walther as well.
Kirstin B. replied:
Dr. Stroud for sure.
Sandy M. replied:
Michelle Briggs Wedaman - most women don't know about the role that iodine plays in female organ health and fertility issues. I would advise all women to read Dr. David Brownstein's book on Iodine and Lynne Farrow's book on the Iodine Crisis. Iodine deficiency can lead to breast/ovarian cysts and cancer, and plays a big role in fertility. Table salt is not enough iodine. You should use Lugol's liquid iodine or Iodoral/IodoRx tablets, at least 50 mg or more per day. I take 100-125 mg of Lugol's per day, and never felt better. Please check it out.
FW Parents!: Looking for recommendations for GP/Family Doctor Practice/Pediatrician preferably on the south side but I need names PLEASE! We are getting down to crunch...

Looking for a new primary care doctor, preferably an internist rather than a GP. Anyone have suggestions of someone more interested in my well being than in getting me...
Marjan B. replied:
Sanjay Patel at Lutheran Medical Group? Male, but a good listener and definitely not one to order tons of tests in my experience.
Beverly B. replied:
Was going to Ami Kulkarni there a year or two ago, not a great experience. But thanks, I'll look into him.
Raj C. replied:
Also, Mark Tatara in one of the MOBs at Lutheran - like him a lot and have recommended F&F, including Janette Chowdhury
Susan Y. replied:
I see a DO.....she's with Lutheran, too. Name is Denise Smith...she's becoming a nun, but a great listener and very friendly
Kathi W. replied:
I like Kent Farnsworth at the heart center at Lutheran.
Steve G. replied:
I love my doctor, the best I've ever had..... but you'd have to come to Eaton Rapids for your appointments!
What integrative doctors in Fort Wayne have you seen real RESULTS with? (I am looking for a general practitioner/primary care physician.) Thanks!!!
Leanna T. replied:
Parkview Integrative Medicine is excellent.
Christine G. replied:
I love Dr. Helfgott at Parkview Integrative Medicine
Kelley D. replied:
Dr Gladd. Helped me get pregnant after fertility issues and healed my gut!
Shelley K. replied:
Not exactly answering your question, but I wanted to mention this. The Parkview First Care Clinic on New Vision Drive has a new doctor named Dr. Carson. She has practiced in New Zealand and Hawaii and is very holistic thinking. Not into antibiotics, etc. I really loved her the 2 times we saw her. You can request her if you go there (not online when you book the appt, but when you get there, at the check-in desk). She's not a family doctor - just doing clinic/urgent care work at the moment.
Do you know of a primary care physician currently taking new patients? Every doctor I have called is closed to new patients or has a long waiting list.
I definitely need some help. I have complex medical problems, and I truly believe if I stick with traditional medicine they are going to kill me. I need a holistic...
Angie T. replied:
Dr. Gladd would be my first recommendation and then Dr. LaSalle. Dr. Gladd does not take insurance, Dr. LaSalle does. I know of a nurse practitioner in Columbia City who you should look into, just cannot her name right now. Hopefully someone else may chime in. I would also look into the naturopath physician practicing out of The Health Food Shoppe, sorry can't remember her name either! P
I'm looking for a Primary Care Physician for my husband and myself within the Lutheran Network so our insurance will cover. Any recommendations? Would love even more...
Jean F. replied:
Amy Vail- I see Dr. Jessica Ottenweller-butcher. She's with the Lutheran group! She's wonderful.
Michelle R. replied:
Dr. Shelby Kenner is gr8, in the Lutheran Network and located on S. Anthony. And she is a woman of the Word! We love her.
Nicole B. replied:
We have liked Brian Adam, but he is at the DuPont campus.

Dr. Vishaal Veerula
Christine G. replied:
Dr. Mullaly is a Family Practice guy. And then I recommend Parkview Integrative Medicine for your autoimmune disease.
I am new to the Fort Wayne area and in need of a holistic dentist, and functional health doctors in the following fields: OBGYN, primary physician, and endocrinologist....
Naomi H. replied:
We don't have a true holistic dentist here unfortunately. If you don't have young children you might check out Dr Trok/Dr Krider, if you do have young children many of us see Dr Druley in Grabill.
I know I've seen the answer to this question on here ... sorry for the repeat. I'm looking for a pediatrician in Auburn and a doctor for myself. Possibly just a good...
I have to choose a doctor under the Anthem plan. Does anyone know anything about Melissa Walter as a GP?
Tabitha G. replied:
She is my regular doc/obgyn (I've finally, after a long wait, gotten in with the Parkview Integrative Medicine group, but I still have Dr Walther since PIM doesn't do OB/GYN) I like her pretty well. I'm not sure how much she is into natural/holistic medicine but I guess that's what PIM is for:-) I was impressed my first appointment with her because she had clearly familiarized herself with my file before meeting me. She can be a little blunt but definitely comes across as caring too.
