Dr. Helfgott and Dr. LaSalle are both integrative medicine doctors at PPG integrative medicine. They're both fantastic. Highly recommended. They do have a long wait list to see the doctor (like around 9 months). In the meantime, I'd suggest going to their classes/presentations like Andrea Reuter Schichner stated.
Are there any good possibly even MD trained naturopaths? Any for adults? Any for kids? We are in Lakeside so closer better but guessing can't be picky as limited if any...
Lanah H. replied:
Thanks yes I once saw Dr Minser who does acupuncture but I don't think she does general 'medicine' .
Jaime H. replied:
www.bodynbalance.org She isn't an MD but she is a Board Certified ND. She's very compassionate and loves helping others. She doesn't prescribe traditional medicine but has an array of homeopathics, supplements etc. that she uses. The only place my family and I use and LOVE it.
Lanah H. replied:
Thanks Erin Stewart and Becky Nicodemus I totally forgot Minser she does other holistic stuff. I need a general family dr and am just getting so sick of the pill popping approach. This vaccine decision making for baby is so hard with the worlds of medicine (east/west) so darn divided…And, Jaime Hunter-Kuckuck I'll check it out. Also, I love Dr. LaSalle but as with any of the preventive/integrative insurance doesn't cover…seems so absolutely counter logical in that the insurers could make even MORe profit if their patients were focused on integrative, holistic prevention.
Holly S. replied:
The only way we've gotten around not having insurance and being holistically driven is to trust our intuition and get care from an ND when our kids have issues we can't problem solve. Children respond extremely well to homeopathy, and between this and herbs like echinacea and olive leaf, we have managed to not need a family doctor. I suggest getting a book on homeopathy and families, and see how you feel about this approach. It has helped me trust my own intuition. Homeopathy can help manage symptoms of cough and colds much better than allopathy and cold meds. While I don't have the skills to shift my children's constitution the way a skilled ND can, I have consulted one when it's been needed. Barb Hunter, listed above, is local and very skilled. I currently use a FW native mom who lives in Cleveland (Erin Holston Singh), she visits from time to time and works with us via phone and email. Her website has a wealth of info. www.optionsnaturopathic.com I wish it were easier for families to have choice, but I also fee like this is shifting. The market is drive by need, right?
Carmen P. replied:
Dr Gladd MD off Illinois road, but he does not take insurance. Dr Helfgott MD, not sure if she does. Dr Schlie MD in Leo, not sure if she takes insurance either. All are MDs who approach problems holistically first then resolve to med if needed. We treat everything ourselves at home, our children are never sick though. You may also want to look into including essential oils as part of your homeopathy tool box.
Carmen P. replied:
I also know a friend who owns Optimum Health... Which is a natural healing clinic. She's not an MD but has a long list of patients she's even cured from diabetes etc... Most of her clients are Hispanic worth no insurance so she does keep her prices low!
Any local osteopathic, naturopath, homeopathic, or holistic doctors? Especially those with experience with children. TIA

Dr. Veerula is a holistic pediatrician I believe
Amber M. replied:
Dr. Veerula is a holistic pediatrician. We love him! His office does tend to be a little bit busy, but he and his staff are very good. I would not think of taking my children any place else. We have chosen not to vaccinate our children due to religious beliefs, and he has never once given us any flack for it. Love him!

Murdock Nutritional Healing, SW just off of W. Jefferson Blvd. 459-6160www.nutritionalmuscletesting.com
Rachel W. replied:
I'm looking into Dr Veerula (we have to change peds). I guess I was just curious if he's my only option. I don't know of anything wrong with his practice or anything. I just wanted to shop around to make the right decision. Thanks!
