My husband and I have very natural views on childbirth and it has taken us a couple care providers to find the right fit. Do a consultation at a few places so that you can be sure you like the one you choose. We did a first appointment with the auburn midwives and we’re not fully comfortable with them. We had opposing views on ultrasound. We did a couple appointments with the Parkview midwives at Parkview North and really liked them, but again because we chose to skip ultrasounds ( I have no health issues and there are no concerns with my pregnancy so we don’t see it as medically necessary) they said we would have to work with the OB’s at Parkview. Then someone recommended Dr. Stroud! We had our first appointment this week and we absolutely love them! They are mother/baby centered, are open to more natural ways and we love that they Will do everything possible to avoid a C-section. They really want to help you achieve the birth that you want. Again, maybe have a consultation at a few places to find the right fit for you. We really wanted to use a birthing center, which is why we checked out auburn midwives, but in the end decided the priority was a care provider that would work with are more natural desires. And just to clarify, Auburn midwives and Parkview midwives were fantastic, we were bummed that it didn’t work out because both places were great, it just wasn’t the fit for us. Any of them could be a good fit for you:-) you’ll find what you’re looking for!

If looking for a Doctor as a backup in the event that you will be using a hospital option, I propose Parkview Midwives. Rhoda Baughman is a homebirth midwife who has teamed up with strouds practice so all of your needs would be met with the pair. Stroud’s practice alone would be the only for sure respectful OB option. Birthing center option would be Stephanie Vanderhorst at auburn birthing center. Those are the only three of each type I would recommend to guarantee everything you have on your list and to ensure bodily autonomy and respect during that process.

I'd suggest the midwives at Auburn OBGYN. The birthing center is right on the campus of DeKalb Hospital, should it be needed. They're phenomenal at guiding you, supporting and encouraging. The Birthing Center and DeKalb are the only options for water birth anywhere around here!

There was a workshop this spring in FW on PCOS that offered natural treatment information. I have tried to find a obgyn with pcos knowledge. I was never successful. Obgyn's are surgeons and most treat you as such. Your best bet is like Janis said. Do things on your own. At least for pcos. I see a naturopath from out of state, we work over the phone and e-mail. I'm sure you could find someone closer that can help you. Just saying in my exsperience it's best to let obgyn's do what they do best and let a doctor who specializes in pcos help with that. A really amazing resource is a podcast from underground wellness with Dr. Walsh. It's all about pcos. Dr. Walsh is the natropath I see. I've been learning about pcos for almost 15 and I learned a ton!

I use my midwife for all my gyn care. I don't know if she knows anything about PCOS, but I have been much happier with my care since I switched to her. I see Stephanie VanderHorst at Auburn OBGYN.

I can second that for Stephanie VanderHorst and Michelle Hileman at Auburn OBGYN. They have a very conservative approach to prescribing. It is worth the drive for me. They can take care of all aspects of women's issues. Their number is 269-927-0035.

Wow! Wasn't really looking for a new OB/GYN, but I think I'll switch to Dr. Stroud! He sounds awesome.

I see him and appreciate his "bedside manner" and his approach to pregnancy and birth. I would definitely recommend him as an OBGYN. That said, I really miss the long appointments that I had with midwives for my first son's birth. Dr. Stroud will always take the time if you need something/have questions, but it's not something that is built into his schedule. My appointments with him are usually 5 minutes or less and he is often behind.

I had a great experience with Sporre at Women's Health Advantage. However.....now that we are receiving bills from them, it has come to our attention that they raises their rates without telling us. We will be paying an additional $300, it appears.

Dr. Katherine Chung with Parkview Physicians Group. You will never have to wait more that 5 to 10 mins. Her nurses and her are wonderful. I had complications with my last pregnancy and she was on top of it.

I used Dr. Davis with Womans Health on Jefferson Rd. Awesome doctor and staff there!

Dr Sporre took care of Amy and delivered all 4 of our little ones !!:)

KellyandChris Horn is a CNM. Nurse-midwives do more than deliver babies. They do GYN and well-woman care, too. And they tend to be more holistic than OBGYNs and work with you to achieve your goals.

Dr Einhaus is an OB and a Functional Medicine Dr. She leans on the side of Holistic.

I really like Dr. Lucia Fouts at Women's Health Advantage- I haven't experienced a pregnancy with her- but she has been very holistic minded, and uncovered a vitamin deficiency that was wreaking havoc. I loved that she looked at my vitamin levels and hormones, and she is easy to talk with and very supportive-

I see Michelle Hileman, she is in Auburn though. Anyone with Auburn OBGYN is great.

I don't really know anyone holistic. But the doctors at Fertility and Midwifery Care Center are definitely conscientious and good to work with.

I don't know about MD, but I had a friend VBAC with Dr. Wheeler. He's with women's health advantage, so he should accept it. I've been with him for other reasons and have been really happy with him. He's pretty hands off, and has advised against a lot of things my regular OB has pushed.

Oh I really love Dr. Stroud so if at all possible I will stay with him he just told me at my last visit that he has applied for MD wise and if is approved than he will keep seeing me but I don't want to wait and he not get approved and then I'm just stuck with a Doctor who doesn't really understand that I want a as natural birth as possible. But thank you guys I'll check into the few you spoke about

Dr. Esguerra is my regular obgyn and he was supportive of me having a home birth with my last baby. He gave me his cell and told me to call him the minute I needed him (if I did at all) which I didn't. It was great to be treated with respect and not bullied for my choice to stay home! Glad to hear he supports VBAC

Dr. Lindsay coda will do vbca. I was going to but had other issues that I couldn't. I don't know how natural she is. .

Dr. Coda will deliver at north.

Women's Health Advantage will also deliver at Parkview North. My physician was from that group and I had all 6 of mine at Parkview.

Duane Johnson OD at Hicksville hospital is fantastic. They accept that type of insurance. Also, there are many Drs at women's health advantage in ft Wayne and they accept that insurance too I believe. You can check out their FB page for Drs and reviews from patients.

I have gone to Women's Health Advantage for 20+ years. I love the staff & my ob/gyn is awesome. I would refer you but it's a male dr. I highly recommend them.

I love Dr. Rosemary Leitch. I left Women's Health Advantage after a not so great experience and found her through this group. She is very thorough and lets you lead treatment routes. I have extremely early perimenopause and she has helped me find non prescription alternatives.

I was skiddish because Bhat delivered my 2 other babies. You totally eased my mind with Dr. Kennedy for number 3. And I couldn't be more thrillled.

I love Dr. K and her girls. I definitely miss working for her! She's the best!

I like Dr Chung. She remembers my name even though she sees me once/year:) I see her sometimes outside of work & she calls me by name & genuinely seems to care! I can't speak for how she is as far as birthing experience since I don't have children though! But she listens & is very open otherwise.

If you want the doctor you choose to deliver your baby, Chung is a good option. She specials all her patients. Some doctors won't deliver their patients unless they are on call that night. Also, decide where you'd like to deliver (Parkview Regional Medical Center or Parkview Randallia). Cly is mostly at Randallia.

I go to Kennedy and love her! She delivered both my kids. She has a wonderful bedside manner. Like Stephanie Aldridge said. I have also had a few friends to go Dr. Cly and love him to:)

Oh I have seen Dr. Drake before and I loved him to. I was actually in the hospital when I saw him cause of how sick I get when pregnant and he was very attentive even though I was one of his regular patients.
