Does anybody know of an English speaking gastroenterologist (stomach doctor)? Either with Meuhedit or private. At this point I don't care.

Best GI for Meuhedet, Israeli-American is Dr. Shecter. He only sres patients in Efrat's Meihedt clinic, but does procedures at Misgav Ladach. Been here and actively using Go for over 10 years. It is worth going to Efrat to have an appt with him. Best out of the 4 different ones I have used. His number is 02-993-9666 (pm me if not correct, but I am almost 100% sure that is it. He is the best, most comprehensive, thorough and listens.

The gastro clinic at Sharei Tzedek is the best. I got most of the money back from Meuhedet (I'm on C). I saw the head of the department.... sorry I can't remember his name.

Dr Paz, Shaarei Tzedek. He's with Maccabi also, and may be with other cupot.

Dr Paz.His office is in the Wolfson Medical Center and he works out of misgav Ledaxh. We have seen him thru Meuhedet but I think he would see private ( ie for cash). he is originally South African

Fredi, I will find out tomorrow. He has said he will speak to Dr. Paz to see if he can squeeze me in but that he almost never does. I am looking for backups and am willing to go private.

Any ideas people? Dr. Paz can't see me and I can't be considered urgent, even though it is urgent for me. I am willing to pay private.

Dr. Kalman (Julian) Paz (veteran South African oleh), comes highly recommendedץ He has office hours at the Givat Shaul Meuhedet clinic in Jerusalem, Bet Ha'dfus 12 (tel: 6526552).
Need recommendations for excellent and personable gastroenterologist with whom one can get an immediate appointment. Private and sha'rap also possible.

Dr. Lysy (Lisi?) - he's the head of Gastro at Sha'arei Zedek and considered one of the best in Jerusalem but the wait is pretty long even if you go privately. My sister has had lots of experience with him. If you want a recommendation from her - call me and i'll give you her number.

Dr. Ackerman at Hadassah. The most thorough doc I have seen in my life
Yonatan B. replied:
Dr. Paz is the best and is South African. Sharap he is in Sha'arei Tzedek. Meuchedet in Wolfson, don't think he takes Leumit but you can check. But his availability is VERY limited. Dr. Lisi in Sha'arei Tzedek is also very good - not sure on his Englis h. I saw Dr. Eytan Bardan privately in Herzliya Medical Centre - excellent, not sure on his English as I speak fluent Hebrew. He is Deputy Head of Gastro in Tel Hashomer. All these are for gastro issues, NOT gastric surgery, for that there are others, a dime a dozen!

Hi,
Looking for a good, English-speaking gastroenterologist in Jerusalem, preferably with Maccabbi.
I've heard of a few, but can't get an appointment for several...
Alexander K. replied:
Prof Shmuel Adler and Dr Kalman Paz are both native English speaking gastroenterologists in Maccabi in Jerusalem. All the others have OK English at least. Your family doctor is the one who needs to write you a referral letter to the gastroenterologsit. If the fam doc thinks that there is a reason why you should go to a hospital doctor, he or she should state that in the referral and the office will usually give "hitchayvut" (approval of payment/Tofes 17) if this is justified. If the case is urgent then the family doctor should arrange the appointment for you by calling someone. Also, a family doctor can directly refer you to have a colonoscopy or an endoscopy without you needing to see a gastroenterologist (and often these tests can be arranged quicker than a doctors visit). (PS: I am a Jerusalem Family Doctor with Maccabi).
