Ronit Zion works in the berkowoitz (or markowitz?) eye place in malcha mall, and also in Shaarei Tzedek. She is brilliant, and I have a good friend with seriously complicated eye issues that she really helped- and she did the same for me. Call 02-678-5858 and ask when she's in

Ruth S. replied:
Dr Lionel Epstein at Shaarei Zedek Eye Clinic
Ruth S. replied:
No she doesn't need 2 docs. Dr Epstein writes a script for her and then she goes to any glasses shop to get the prescription made up.It's not a second doc just a shop with a choice of frames and kinds of lenses.
Marcia F. replied:
Dr. Epstein is an optometrist Ruth. She said she wanted a medical exam AND lenses. (unless she meant something different by "test her eyes"). Optometrists cannot do medical exams and here in Israel ophthalmologists do not do scripts.
Marcia F. replied:
I think what we are all saying Etti, is that you must go to two different doctors for what you want. You see an eye doctor (ophthalmologist) in Maccabi to have your medical eye check up, but to a different doctor (optometrist) for glasses and lenses. My current ophthalmologist is Dr. Applebaum at the Gdud Haivri Clinic@02-5612139. I like him, he seems thorough. And there are many good optometrists at the glasses places. There is a pricey but excellent one with stores on HaPalmach and Emek Refaim. Also the one at the top of Ben Yehuda & King George is good...the same place you get tested for your driver's license. Good luck.

I'm seeing an opthalmoligist at Macabi Terem at Gdud Haivri in Katamon on Friday... he's said to be good and at least he has all the diagnostic equipment. In the states most people preferred to go to an eyeglass outlet to buy with the prescription, and I want an MD to be able to do more than adjust my vision...they can see things an optometrist does not.
Seeking a good ophthalmologist (must accept Meuchedet), ideally in southern Jerusalem but I'm willing to go elsewhere. . I think there may be one in the Kanyon Achim...
