Can any of you recommend a good doctor for someone in his mid 20s? It's been a really long time since I have even been to a doctor, it's hard to tell where to begin...

Dr. Molly Imber at Internal medicine group is wonderful. Easy to talk to, very thorough and I rarely have to wait.

Myself and my daughter go to Lawrence Family Medicine and Obstetricshttp://lfmo.com/ We see Dr. Pamela Huerter. She's pretty legit, not a long waiting period and if she isn't immediately available you can talk to her nurse who is also really nice.

I really like the urgent care on 23 rd behind CVS. I don't have a regular doctor here but they're always really good. During a snowstorm I had the flu and the doctor I saw called to make sure I was okay a few times.
ChiTownKU replied:
If you're willing to, drive to Topeka and go to Dr. Steve Saylor. He took care of me all throughout my childhood (he practices family medicine) and he was so great I always went back to Topeka when I was at KU.
tytanium replied:
Dr. Stephanie Suber at Family Medicine Associate's is super cool. I hadn't been to the doc in 10 years and she was recommended to me by a friend.

Anyone at Mt. Oread Family Practice Dr. Stueve is amazing! I also use Karen Evans who is the best doctor I've ever had but she only works 2 days a week. (I have a lot of medical issues as a 21 f and they have been wonderful, I went through MANY other doctors offices before finding them)
Total family care, connected to the hospital. and i ageee above Dr Kumuri is great. I go to Dr Nichols in that same practice.

Dr Vaughn does not deliver any more since she started her new practice.

Dr Neu! He is amazing! Especially if you have no insurance as he doesn't take any! He is fantastic, and actually spends time with you look up Neu Family practice online. He does house calls, skype appointments, and has great bedside manner. He has a membership that is extremely affordable and covers any and all office visits and a lot of labs and tests too! Brilliant revolutionary doctor.

Any recommendations for a chiropractor in Lawrence. Debating whether I should go this route or medical doctor.
Emmalee S. replied:
Sport & Spine! Dr. Joey Hugunin is great. https://www.facebook.com/sportandspinelawrence

I go to Dr. Wright on 6 th and he's great! He works on me and then uses this little machine for my muscles. It's awesome
Nicole W. replied:
I saw Dr. Steven Hess at Olathe Medical Center (if he's still there). He did my back surgery back in 97. He was amazing.
Matthew L. replied:
Wowza, reading this thread made me acutely aware of why I quit practicing chiropractic 15 years ago. The ignorance about it is amazing and makes me nuts! Now, to address your issue: I'd recommend all of it, the drugs, the chiro, the PT and the massage. For chiro, I like Mark Kissinger. Get well soon, darlin!
Heather N. replied:
Also, a good chiropractor can do a lot, even if it is just muscle. Matthew Lewis is also right on it being best to do all options. Especially if you can get the doctors involved to coordinate together.

Abby A. replied:
EDIT: Several comments have been deleted because they were unhelpful. Here's what's up: My friend is NOT looking for treatment suggestions or suggestions as to how to cope with side effects. She specifically asked for a naturopath in Lawrence (or nearby if that's her only option) who is familiar with the role of hormones in recovery from breast cancer, to help navigate treatment options she's already receiving. Again, she is NOT asking for product or treatment suggestions. Hope that clears things up. Any suggestions for treatment or side-effect management from here out will be deleted without comment. I saw Dr. Shelton not sure if he is even still practicing. But overall what was most helpful for me was to research everything and treat myself. This probably wouldn't be the ideal option for most people.
Rae H. replied:
Another great resource person is Nancy O'Connor at the Merc. She is a survivor and knows more about nutrition and hormones than most MDs.
I need to see a doctor today but sadly my insurance program doesn't begin till Dec. 1. Is there anywhere in town that I could go with a co pay lower than 60$? Thank you...

Dr. Courter used to have a free clinic at his church, is that still there? Only requirement was that you didn't have insurance.

Elias Chediak was extremely unhelpful and seemed checked out mentally. I would stay away from him.
xOoOoLa replied:
I would avoid Sherri Vaughn at LMH. Generally a bad doctor, super unhelpful and unsympathetic, not helpful regarding my OCD. Also before I switched GP she called me by the wrong name constantly and I’d been her patient for like 5+ years.

Dr. Rush in Omaha got me in ...in Aug....I called early June...don't know him but he knows alot about EDS and came highly recommended by Melissa Collins Hall....
Melissa H. replied:
Dr Rush is a great geneticist. He sees kids at the Munroe Meyer Institute in Omaha but also sees adults. He has his own lab, specializes in metabolic bone disease and collagenopathies (which includes EDS). I called Friday for appointments for my kids and we see him in August. And he has his own research lab so is able to do more. I also suggested LuAnne Groenjes see him and she liked him as well. Aside from being a great Dr, he's a nice guy. You can usually get in within a month or so but he has lots of conferences so sometimes is gone. Specifically Dr Rush. There is another at UNMC (Beuhler) that knows about EDS but not nearly as helpful as Rush is.
