If you dont like dentists i suggest Dr. Munro. Very nice staff, gas is complementary, use shots and numbing gel. Has a laser type thing to numb just one tooth. If really dont like dentist they really sedate. 615-662-0255, my daughter went for the first time, she is switching and she received a very nice welcome letter for coming to the office. Many of my friends go there too.

As for hospitals, again that will depend on you insurance network. But I recommend avoiding Southern Hills. I used to work there, and I just don't recomend them. As for the others, it depends on what you need. Vandy is great for trauma and research studies and THE BEST place for kids, but is a teaching hosptal so you'll have no privacy. St. Thomas (which includes Baptist now) has a great reputation for bone and joint, but is a Catholic hospital and as such not a good choice for treatment of infertility or contraceptives. Centennial is a great cancer hospital and womens center and is really making great strides at becoming a place for kids. (I predict in 5 years, they'll be taking on Vandy in this.). Out of the county, Williamson Medical is great, but it s a drive. Stonecrest is good too. I'm not familar enough with the hospitals in Lebanon or Murfreesboro to state an opinion. Does that help?

Thanks everyone for the advice. I should have mentioned I have COPD so looking for good pulmonary care. I did go to one site (healthgrades.com) They seemed to rank Tristar low and am wondering if it has improved. I moved here from Colorado and had my insurance with Kaiser. They are a large system that operates mainly out west. I don't know if self-contained is the proper term but in my mind it does explain the system. They operate their own hospitals, labs, x-rays, pharmacy, eye care. So it made medical care very simple, all my records were online, could communicated with doctors via email. I so wish they operated here in TN. I am so frustrated knowing there are easier ways to deliver health care than what we have now.
I have grown unhappy with my current doctor, and his office staff does not help any.
May I please get some recommendations for another doctor, either family doc or...

We recently faced the same dilemma with my mother after 20 years and needed to change after recommendations here and other places we changed to John Scott Major at Summit Primary . He is personable and very thorough, the staff was friendly and followed up . He ordered appropriate testing to diagnose or eliminate underlying conditions and I have every confidence that for the first time in a long while her medical care is paramount to the practice. Our experience on every level at Summit Primary Care has been professional and caring! Good luck to you, I know how daunting a task that can be and I hope you find a solution that pleases you as much as ours did for us.

Any primary care doctors on here that can see patients with the Cigna Silver plan? I'm tired of calling ppl & they tell me they're booked & no I don't wanna drive...
Barbara M. replied:
Try Dr Thomas Dinella or some else in that practice 615 391 3971
Donna T. replied:
Try Dr. Angela Willis at Summit.
Ted H. replied:
Have you tried Summit Primary Care? I see Dr. John Scott Major, but I can't speak to which insurance they take.
Ross R. replied:
I would bet your insurance only covers the nonprofit hospital networks like Vanderbilt or St. Thomas. Those docs are slammed and overbooked because those with bronze and silver plans (most of us) have to go there. The Tristar hospitals are for profit, and generally are out of network for the lower plan tiers, but they can see you right away. I'm sure you have seen those billboards claiming 3 minute wait times, while us proles have to sit at Vanderbilt er for hours. They claim universal healthcare would lead to rationing. I would argue that for most of us, it already is. TL:DR try heritage medical group in green hills. They can likely get you in and in network.
Angela S. replied:
I have the Cigna silver plan and I can only go to HCA hospitals. Heritage Medical at Summit takes Cigna.

Ted Miller is great. I used to call on him several years ago, and his patients love him. Nice guy, too. He's near the Dollar General corporate offices.

All 5 of us go to Raul Couret in Hendersonville. He is across from the hospital on New Shackle. He is the best internist/family doctor I have ever been to or worked with, and I am very particular! They do not use a hospitalist when you are in the hospital, they make rounds themselves. Can give you his contact info tonight.
