Looking for GP in Raleigh Can anyone recommend a good General Practitioner that takes Blue Cross/Blue Shield? Preferably in the North Raleigh and Morrisville area.
DeepRoot replied:
I go to Dr. Brett Foreman at http://www.cfpsm.com. They're over there off Six Forks Rd. at Health Park Dr. You may wanna give them a call to see if they take BCBS, though.
secretasian23 replied:
http://www.capitalfamilymedicine.com This is in North Raleigh. I used to go to them back when I had Blue Cross Blue Shield. They are awesome.
DutyLinks replied:
If you don't mind the Rex area, [Duke Primary Care Blue Ridge](http://www.dukemedicine.org/locations/duke-primary-care-blue-ridge) is a fairly new practice, and they are accepting patients still. Dr. Reed is phenomenal and she has a great bedside manner.
goodgoodgorilla replied:
WakeMed Brier Creek - Dr Rooker. First PCP I've had that I've ever really liked and trusted.
envirocbr replied:
Is this for adults or peds? For Adults, I use Duke Primary Care, they're great and they take BCBS For Peds, Blue Ridge pediatrics I believe takes BCBS.
Anonymous replied:
It might be a bit out of your way but Cary Medical Group is where I go. A few of the doctors are not taking new patients but they're all very nice. If you go to them and these two are accepting new patients, I recommend Dr. Bilbro or Dr. Raman, especially if there are kids involved.
lexovinix replied:
If you are female there is a very good nurse practitioner practice in Holly Springs that take BCBS.
mctz replied:
It is not really in your area, but I go to [Raleigh Family Practice](http://www.rfppa.com/), over by Rex Hospital. Dr. Babcock over there is a young guy and is a pretty good doc.
I just moved to Raleigh and I am needing a Primary Care Physician. Are there any good ones in town that know a lot about Celiac or other autoimmune diseases? Not a GI...
Christina B. replied:
Yes! My GP's son is Celiac and when he was first dx'd, I helped her quite a bit. She's wonderful. Dr. Cynthia Young. Western Wake Wellness.

Welcome to Raleigh - hope you love it and are starting to feel settled! I can't say enough wonderful things about my GP, Dr. Josh Garriga with Boylan Healthcare near North Hills. He is incredibly attentive and present, never rushed, always treating me with respect and care as a partner in whatever we're working on. Very much concerned with treating me and my health in a big picture/whole patient philosophy as opposed to just talking at one issue at a time. I have Hashimoto's disease and celiac disease, and he has A LOT of experience with autoimmune diseases in his practice and via family members. He stays up on the latest research and always takes time and care with giving a balanced plan for progress, for example, "Let's try a new dosage of this Rx, but I also want you to consider taking up yoga, working on some new ways to manage your stress..." Clearly I'm a huge fan. He has made a significant impact on my health. http://boylanhealthcare.com/care-team/

I am discouraged now. Have an exam scheduled with a Dr at REX (not til Oct.!). Leaving WF Family for the same reason. No personalized care. Felt like a number. Follows AMA practices with out consideration of individual's history. I could go on and on. Had one doctor that I loved there. He was personable, got to know his patients, listened. He left. Why? Because of office practices that he could not adhere to because they interfered with how he practiced medicine. I don't want to go from one impersonal practice to another. Might have to cancel my Oct. appointment and go to Village Family. Why is this so hard!?

Interesting. I was telling someone yesterday that I felt like you have a time limit with Rex Family Care, which would be just enough time for the nurse to take blood pressure, for the doctor to confirm what the nurse recorded and then prescribe something. And god forbid asking additional questions, ever if on an ongoing problem.

Tim L. replied:
I went to Dr. Wagner at Capital Family Med (behind Wendy's off Falls of Neuse) with an ingrown toenail. He said he could cut back the nail and destroy the nail bed and have a few weeks of wound care, or I could go home and put a piece of dental floss under it until the nail grew out of it. My only question: what flavor floss? It worked like a charm and I knew I had a new primary care physician. Since then he has been very aggressive treating my hereditarily high cholesterol, supported a radical diet change that resulted in cutting my numbers down to be within healthy ranges and I cut down on some meds. I love that guy.

Capital Family Med in Wakefield -Dr Wagner. He is awesome! He detoxed me from a bunch of unnecessary meds that other doctors put me on. He also realized I needed emergency gallbladder surgery after another Dr misdiagnosed me. Knows his stuff and has a great "bed side manner". He is patient, explains things to you, and doesn't make you feel rushed. He also is not condescending and does not treat you like a child.

Not a fun topic but I suffered from a horrible toe nail experience (chronic ingrown issues) after a bad pedicure for 10+ years. I saw several doctors and finally went to Dr. Hodo's office. He explained to me what exactly was wrong with it and basically helped me to decide to have it removed permanently (depressing for a 30 something who likes pedicures). He has also seen me for other foot issues (stress fracture). He is very nice, a little quirky but he does take his time with you.
