We drove north on the A1A about 30 minutes and found Betty's A1A Cafe - local restaurant; the food and service were excellent. Also another location to eat at on the A1A is Alfie's. Aunt Catfish's was nice but a bit pricey.

There is a Hershey's Ice Cream shop in Daytona. The lighthouse and walk out to the ocean on the concrete pier is always good. There is a park in Daytona that includes an original band shell, good walking area boardwalk and several restaurants in that area. At Ormond Beach itself, we watch surfers for hours.

There are a few things to see, but honestly outside of the awesome beaches it is just simply a desert. It is definitely worth renting a car for a day or two and checking it out. I recommend Baby Beach for some awesome snorkeling. The Island is only about 20 miles from end to end and about 6 deep. You can definitely cover it easily in a day. There is a store right beside the resort and you can get a good deal renting a car at the Resort. Enjoy your trip.
