Dr Rick Abbott. I had a multi level laminectomy
Jaime H. replied:
Dr Abbott was working for NYU Medical Center at the time of my SDR, he currently is on staff at Montefiore hospital in the Bronx
Paula H. replied:
It was a multi level laminectomy Marsha. This is more invasive so more bone removed and less nerves cut. The issue isn't the doctor I think more that the technique has moved on and is less invasive with the ability to cut more nerves. I would only consider a single level laminectomy. If you look in files section here Stacey then there is a survey our charity carried out of parents post surgery. Our charity is www.support4 sdrwales.org.uk

Marsha Powell be that as it may. is because of patients like me that doctors have refined the SDR technique

Stacey, I had SDR with Dr. Park two years ago at nearly 40 years old. It is normal to be concerned about complications that may occur. The surgeon's expertise and technique (as Paula explained) are directly correlated with a patient's result. Dr. Park is world-renowned for both his experience (he has performed 3,000+ surgeries with no major complications) and single-laminectomy technique (which he credited for perfecting), the gold standard for SDR. I am glad you've decided to send in the application. Please contact Dr. Park's office regarding Botox. I believe your child cannot have had injections for a specific amount of time *before* surgery. I hope Dr. Park says your child is a candidate. SDR changes lives. I wish I had it decades earlier, but I didn't know about it. This is why I am such a passionate SDR advocate now. You can read my story here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/nicole-luongo/sdr-life-changing-surgery-for-cerebral-palsy_b_5615021.html?utm_hp_ref=impact&ir=Impact Good luck! Please keep us posted. Amanda Johnstone is from New Zealand. Her daughter had SDR with Dr. Park.

Dr. Park has not had complications, although I can not say the same for other hospitals. This was from when we researched it:-)
