Robin D. replied:
Peterson & Plante, MDs are great internists if you want MD a little more specialized. Male patients really like them (both are men). Also, Jeff Kirby is a PA (physicians assistant). I'm a nurse and have found that OFTEN nurse practitioners and physician assistants spend more time with their patients, LISTEN to their patients more, and are quite thorough. It just depends on what you're looking for. If your husband is quite healthy with occasional illness and needs a provider to follow routine screenings a NP or PA is the way to go, but if he has a chronic condition or multiple problems an internist would be a good choice just harder to get in to see. Good luck!!! And WELCOME to what I refer to as "the land of milk and honey". Hope you like it here:)

Can anyone recommend a good family doctor in the area? I live in Lexington near the Walmart. I need someone with good bedside manner who will prescribe medicines when...
Gloria K. replied:
J. Edward Golay, M.D. has been our family physician for 25 yrs. Never rushes, listens to all concerns, and will prescribe what he thinks you need, without judging you. All 5 of us love him.

Dr.Brandt on notch Abbott he is awesome for pain management. I had to be admitted to LMC with a torn buttocks muscle from doing physical therapy he is not affiliated with LMC but he called me every day on my cell phone to check on me even spoke to the doctor that was doing my care at LMC. Dr. Brandt is with Agape Pain Prevention and management, he is awesome
David-Gina H. replied:
Pain management. ..ask to be treated. Dr. Grosslight 378 near the hospital. I'm degenerative with 12 disc ruined and my life us a struggle daily. This doctor has me 50 % better than I was 1 year ago.
Pat G. replied:
Sweet friend Susan Latz Hoffman, I also use Dr. Grosslight's office (Physician's Spine & Pain Center on Sunset Blvd., heading to Lex. hospital) for my meds to manage my back issues. Love them there. He is awesome & so is his physician's asst. Keri Frey. Saw her today. Would highly recommend them for your sciatica, etc. I use Lex. Family Practice on Powell Dr. in Lex., across from Mellow Mushroom for primary care. I love Dr. Korman, but just for regular stuff. For pain management, you need a specialist, who understands chronic pain issues, etc. Hugs to you, Jeff & the kiddoes.:)
Lexington peeps, I need a new family doctor. Tired of the cattle call. Unfortunately, one of the best I know is at Lex Clinic and they don't accept our insurance....
Becky S. replied:
Deborah it's a drive, but I love Dr. Benjamin Lyon (MD) in Georgetown- I actually went to him, when I lived in indiana too lol. that's how good he is! he has saved my dad's life and mine! but I do know that my neighbor is a pediatrician at fountain court, and our other neighbor is the GP / family doc in that practice too- the name is Caresse Wesley (DO) -- I'm sure she's good!

Megan L. replied:
Dr. Greg Bailey at Eye Care of Lexington behind Fatz and the library!!
JasonnApril A. replied:
Your welcome. My wife and I are both nurses and we see Dr. Mattei. I don't think he is accepting new patients right now. But the doctor he always tells us to see when he is out is Dr. Gajewski and she is really good too.
JasonnApril A. replied:
They are part of Family Medicine Centers of SC and usually can always get you in for same day appointments if it's for sick or urgent appointment. But if they don't the good thing is you can be seen at another doctor at one of their practices in the area.
JasonnApril A. replied:
I actually used to work for Columbia eye Surgery center. Dr. Brian Huff or Dr. Matt Clary are both excellent eye doctors and have an office in west columbia
Looking for a good general practice/family doctor/internist who practices at the Kentucky Clinic. Recommendations? Was not impressed with the doc that I got last time!
Bill P. replied:
Dr. Craig Irwin is our family doctor at Lexington Clinic and a good man.
Wendy W. replied:
My daughter sees Sibel Gullo, at Baptist Internal Medicine, in Nicholasville (Brannon Crossing). They take medical cards (I guess because of their association with Central Baptist Hospital).
Patti P. replied:
I am specifically looking for a doc at Kentucky Clinic because it is cheaper for me and more convenient since I work on campus. And yes, Joanne, I have noticed that PAs usually take a lot more time and listen better than the docs do!
Joanne S. replied:
I think they're all moving to Turfland though. Community Health is the umbrella. UK has lost so many doctors.
