I’m desperately searching for a new neurosurgeon who specializes in Chiari to review my case. I’ve started to track my reoccurring symptoms again. I feel like this...
Gillian T. replied:
Reach out to Dr Frim in Chicago. You can email him directly thru the University of Chicago hospital website. He is one of the top specialists and will review your MRI and symptoms and call you with his opinion. I've been with him since 2013 when my previous non-specialist surgeon abandoned me.

Dr Anthony Capocelli is amazing
Joyce S. replied:
Dr. Heffez is... never mind, let's just say that I don't care for him. I love Dr. Frim. He is an amazing man.
Angie V. replied:
I went to the UW hospital in Madison and Dr. Hannah did my decompression. I liked him and I believe he is a great surgeon...I just don't know about calling him a Chiari specialist. He knows there is no cure, but also didn't understand why I had so much cone back about 4 mom this post-op, because he hadn't had that happen with any of his other Chiari patients. I do know he will do all of his own test. I feel he is worth looking into.
Heather W. replied:
That's why I refused to have Dr Heffez do my surgery. I heard so many horrible things about him. Try and see Dr Iskandar at the uw Madison America family children's hospital. He's done hundreds of Heffez's mistakes and messups.
Susan M. replied:
You sound a lot like where I am right now. I recommend Dr Henderson in Maryland or Dr Greenfield in NY.
Sharon M. replied:
Dr. Greenfield in NYC the absolute best

Dr Dempsey at UW Madison did my decompression surgery back in Oct 2015. I had a wonderful experience with him. I had to go back and get a shunt but after that I have felt so much better. Feel free to contact me whenever.

Is Chiari the only diagnosis? If so, Dr Greenfield, Dr Bolgonese, and if it there is spinal cord or complex cord issues involved, Dr Michael Nosko. I am in central NJ. I interviewed 4. All suggestions matched. I choose Dr Nosko.
