I took Jake to Vision Works in Pleasant Hills. When I told them he had autism, they blocked off 2 spots for him. Bobby needs therapy and they were able to recommend someone who took MA to do it. I was really happy. ~Becca

We go to Pediatric and Adult Vision Care in Wexford also. We see Dr. Prazer. I have one with autism and another in vision therapy - both in glasses. Dr. Prazer is worth the trip for us.
Does anyone have any eye doctors they recommend? I could see an optometrist but also an ophthalmologist if possible.

Suzanne Everhart in Ashland saw my Mom for what was thought to be perhaps scar tissue after cataract surgery. Upon examination, it was clear that was not the case. She referred her same day to neurological opthamologist - - - long story short, it was a brain aneurysm and her life was saved at UVA within a couple weeks. I'll always be grateful.

So I need new glasses and haven't been to the eye doctor since 2002.... Suggestions in Richmond anyone? My 12 year old pair finally has to be retired!
Jeanne S. replied:
I went to Family Vision Care of Richmond for an exam last month. They were decent. I've gotten glasses from Sams club and Costco, seems to be the cheapest with decent frames.

After you get them fitted and comfortable, costco is a great source for refills. He can do it. Patterson Eye clinic is great with kids.

Can anyone suggest an exceptional ophthalmologist or optometrist?
Janet W. replied:
Virginia Eye Institute would be where I would start. I would call one of their offices and tell them your issue/s and they will direct you to a doctor who specializes in your area. Offices around include Short Pump and St. Mary's. Happy searching!
Beth M. replied:
We LOVE our ophthalmologist: Dr. Peter Goldmann, office at St. Mary's. He has a great manner and apparently is a well-regarded surgeon. Only problem is that he's getting toward retirement age. Also, his office is very busy, especially on post-op checkup days. But he's worth the wait, in my opinion.

Natalie A. replied:
That all depends on when you're ready to have a doctor give you some real answers. A surgeon who truly understands your condition and it's "friends" that come with it. Maybe consult with Dr. Greenfield, and find out just what you're looking at first. Waiting to do surgery is your choice ultimately. But you have to consider that it can be causing permanent damage. I hope this helps. Where are you from?
