[Thorough Bread](https://www.yelp.com/biz/thorough-bread-and-pastry-san-francisco?uid=Go1St-Exb-yb92 gft6GqHQ&utm_source=ishare) has a lovely hidden patio.

Workshop Cafe (designed for working, work in free area or enter paid area and pay by the hour), Capital One 360 Cafe (free, also full of people working). Both are in the FiDi and very close to Bart. I would personally feel bad taking up space in a cafe or restaurant if I am going to be there for literally hours.

not coffee and not near castro, but try a public atrium like linkedin. some offer amenities like wifi, easily accessible water fountains, tables/chairs. https://sf.curbed.com/maps/sf-parks-private-popos-public-owned for a stretch break away from a screen, and a great view, try the public garden on the roof at 1 kearny, or the Salesforce tower. food truck parks in Mission Bay and next to Costco offer covered seating (so no screen glare) and free WiFi. PSA: there is city WiFi all along market, in the largest of the public parks, and in the libraries.

Also an option: Hang somewhere until they move you along -- then head to Main Library outside Civic Center BART for more free wifi until it's time to head to SFO.

Covo is a space designed for exactly what you want. You pay a bit to hang out there, and can stay as long as you want. Coffee should and beer/wine built in.

Perhaps camp in a hotel lobby?

Why not go straight to SFO and camp out in one of the lounges? If you don't have access, you can pay $50 and they'll feed you and you get access to drinks/showers/bathrooms/etc. May be less hectic to just get to SFO, through security, and then relax in the lounge than to worry about navigating SF, finding a place to work, and then dealing with commuting to SFO later on.

Castro and Church aren't *super* close to a BART, but are nice to hang out in for a while if you're just looking for a more mellow vibe than fidi. Philz and Cafe Du Soliel (both already mention here) are good options. Another thing to consider is checking into the airport early (depends on if you're checking a bag or not) and buying a day pass at one of the lounges. Some of them are around $25-$30 for the daypass, and you can camp out and use their (better than generic airport) wifi while taking advantage of the complimentary snacks and drinks.
