OK, I need to see an Ophthalmologist in SF. Anyone have a reccomendation?

I got tired of dealing with so many sales people and decided to go to the UC Berkeley School of Optometry. The students are ready to graduate and give a very thorough exam. The professor comes in and quickly reviews everything. If they see anything questionable, the professor discusses it with them. There's no discount for sitting for students, but they've all been pretty top-notch. It's a little hard to find on campus, but you can take BART over and walk up the hill. If you drive, you get a piece of paper to put on your dash - but parking near the clinic is limited. There's more parking up the hill; I mostly rode my motorcycle and parked right by the clinic, so I don't know all the ins and outs of parking. They have Saturday hours, but probably harder to get. Looks like most folks as usual don't know the diff in ophthalmology and optometry. Chicken, I worked for the best ophths on earth at PAC Med Center in the day. One I highly recommend is Dr. Richard Abbott who is now at UCSF Med. He or anyone under his direction would be superb. Worlds best and you want no less for your eyeballs. Tell him Beth Stinnett says hi. --Bell

Dr William Good at CPMC. He's specialized in pediatric ophtalmology, one of the 2 doctors in Northen California to screen premies.

I like Invision optometry on Fillmore. Too fancy for me, but state-of-the-art and very personable. I see Dr. Edna; her husband and partner in the practice is Dr. Clifford I think.

I've been with Dr Woo at Costco for a few years. I tried others in between, but keep coming back to him. I'm over 40 and a -8, -9. He's a -7, -7.5 and seems to get the aging and staring at a screen stuff. 2 cents.

Lillie Mosaddegh is considered one of the best. If you have a problem with your retina (I hope not!) see any of the doctors at West Coast Retina on Bush at Van Ness. They are regarded as the best in the west coast.

UC Berkeley is not a bad place to go, but keep in mind they are students and your exam will likely not be quick. Also not great if you're looking to establish an ongoing relationship with your provider. You can come see me at La Clinica de la Raza in f...See More
