Looking for recommendations for a Pediatric Endocrinologist specializing in Type 1 Diabetes. Thank you in advance!
Laura J. replied:
We see Dr William Lagarde at WakeMed Pediatric Endo. He’s with Dr Carlucci at Wake Med Ped Endo. We saw a couple of other doctors before deciding to stay with him. He’s great with our 12 yo son and he is a wealth of knowledge!
Elizabeth E. replied:
Duke Pediatric Endocrinology...for the life of me, I can't remember the name of who my son used to see. But the staff was great!
Mary R. replied:
UNC - we see Nina Jain at the Rex location and use UNC’s ER if needed. She is amazing!
Alyssa M. replied:
My daughter sees Dr Lockemer with Wakemed Pediatric Endocrinology and we love her. She's really up to date on research and has a terrific bedside manner. One bonus is she does some office hours at Wakemed North on Falls so very convenient.
Lisa M. replied:
We love Dr Ali Caligukalu with UNC. He is based at UNC Chapel Hill but they have a Raleigh clinic at Rex Hospital on Lake Boone Trail on Wednesdays. Do you have a child with a new diagnosis? My son was diagnosed on 2010 at 7 years old, I'm happy to help if you ever have questions or need anything.
Can anyone recommend and Endocrinologist in the area related to thyroid?
Yazi P. replied:
Do not go to Carolina Endocrine. In 4 years 4 of their doctors resigned. Dr. Thomas is clueless, under and over treated me . I am also searching for a new dr now.
Brenda M. replied:
http://www.raleighendocrine.com/ourproviders.html I’ve used them for many years. They’re the best.
Sandy C. replied:
Dr Amit Patel at North Raleigh Endocrine. I have gone to several and he is the best in my opinion. He has an office on Falls of Neuse and one at the Rex in Wakefield. http://nrendocrine.com/. I have thyroid disease and he is great.
ISO: an endocrinologist who specializes in thyroid issues.. Who listens about symptoms, not just test results.
Thanks
Pat D. replied:
Dr Berlin at Raleigh endocrine. Very patient oriented. I'm a nurse, and I highly recommend!
Kayla W. replied:
I don't like Dr. Stall. I like Dr. Cara Davis at med one medical group. She's not a specialist but she is a great listener and she works hard to make you better
Jennifer F. replied:
Dr Becker with Raleigh Endo is great but be prepared to wait for 1.5 hrs plus even with an appt.
Paula R. replied:
Hands down, Dr. Michael Thomas with Carolina Endocrine. I was sick for almost two years before I stumbled upon him. I was diagnosed with Graves Disease. I had radio active iodine to kill the thyroid. He is still treating me today.
Karen H. replied:

Betsy K. replied:

After going to Raleigh Endocrine and UNC Physicians dept of Endocrine I found the best place ever....finally a place that listens to me and customizes treatment for each patient, not by what it "should be". Love Carolina Endocrine by Rex Hosp.
Sandy T. replied:
Dr. Wier.
Melanie V. replied:
I just started seeing Dr. Berlin at Raleigh Endocrine, he has been great so far Good luck.
Bethany D. replied:
A friend uses Dr Stall and highly recommended the office even though it's not exactly close. We were suggested Dr Stall or the peds we are at now (Dr Lockemer) for my 16 year old daughter's graves disease.
Stephanie M. replied:
Dr. Shawnee Weir FOR SURE. Best doctor I've been to in Raleigh for anything hands down. I love her.
Sarah S. replied:
I used to see Dr. Shawnee Weir but appointment times were never respected. She was always behind at least 30-45 minutes and I felt like she just did whatever I asked rather than providing a medical opinion. Now I see Dr Julia Warren-Ulanch and find i t much more suitable for me. Always on time +/- 5 minutes and really listens to my overall concerns and preferences but then tells me why things may or may not be a right fit. We make decisions together and try things out... It's a partnership not just a doctor visit
Sondra T. replied:
I see Dr. Shawnee Weir at Raleigh Endocrine Associates . She is wonderful. Had a thyroidectomy several years ago and have been seeing her ever since.
Cecile M. replied:
Dr Weir with Raleigh Endocrine is on STTM's lis of "recommended doctors"

Dr Amit Patel North Raleigh Endocrine... He has an office at Rex in Wakefield. I used to go to Raleigh Endocrine on Blue Ridge Rd but got tired of spending my entire day waiting for my appointment ... Dr. Patel is great.
Jennifer T. replied:
I used to see Dr. Holt at Raleigh endocrinology for my Graves'. It went into remission so I don't have to go anymore. Really liked her.
Heather T. replied:

Looking for a recommendation for a well informed, personable endocrinologist in the Greater Raleigh area. Needing someone who knows thyroid issues very well. Help please!
Missy P. replied:
Well Jennafer, Jared saw UNC endocrinologists for years. They don't really do much other than a bloodtest, say yes or no you are hyper/hypo and dispense a prescription--and the levels that they accept aren't exactly optimal. He struggled with sleeplessness and fatigue for years--they did nothing to figure out why or how to help him even with my questions. However,I on the other hand saw Dr. Goode from the beginning (6 years now)-she actually diagnosed my hashimotos thyroiditis and prescribed two thyroid meds-synthroid and a natural compounded one--plus changed my diet added supplements and I was able to stop the damage to my thyroid. My thyroid antibodies went from 153 to 50....typical endocrinologists don't even test for antibodies because they don't feel you can do anything to change them. So, I feel her approach has helped me a lot more than Jared's doctors. He is finally old enough to see Dr Goode and she has already helped him to feel much better and sleep better in a couple months by changing him to a different medicine-one with T3 and T4--something I suggested to the endocrinologist and they didn't see the need. So, that's my experience. It depends on how you want to deal with it--Here's her website: http://www.beverlymedicalcenter.com/

Laurie P. replied:
I have been going to Carolina Endocrine for several years. I was very disappointed in Raleigh Endocrine, kept getting contradicting treatment and could never get an appointment with the same dr. I would have an appointment when I would arrive that dr would not be available and this happened 3 times. Switched to UNC Dept of Endocrine and always felt like I was just a number and the dr would never remember who I was, I think they were just too big. Found Carolina Endocrine and have been very happy. I have thyroid issues.
Sandy T. replied:
