I have a survey as well to help plan trips next summer. Looking for suggestions for places we could either drive to from Michigan or fly and rent bikes; rent a condo in...

Adventure Cycling is a good starting place. They are not trike specialists, but trikes can go almost anywhere. I'm sorry to say I'll never get to visit all the great rides in the states. Much less the trans Canada trail opening next year. Pittsburgh, PA to Washington, DC on rail to trail! You can hopscotch. Dayton, OH. Cinci, OH. Louisville, Ky. Some in Tennessee. Hattiesburg, MS. Covington, LA. Waveland, MS Biloxi, MS. Tallahassee, Fl. Gainesville, FL, and at least 100 other locations in Florida. Especially this time of year. Trike rentals in Floral City, FL. Facebook has a Rails to Trails group. There are a lot of posts for trails in the western US also. www.traillink.com

I see that someone has recommended Franklin so you could come south of that and do the Red Bank trail in Brookville and further south and do the Mahoning Shadow trail. An hour from Punxsutawney is Indiana Pa and do the Ghost Town trail or Hoodlebug. You will love Pa. trails and I would like to hear about your trails.

Lisa Frederick we are all waiting in suspense to find out where you are going for your bike trip!
Head to Southern Ontario. The Chrysler Canada Greenway outside of Windsor is over 26 miles and a great ride. Check out the Toronto area as well towns outside of it such as Caledon. Also the Niagara Region has numerous trails as well.

I want to get bicycles back on the Trans-Canada Trail in south-central british columbia. We have almost 500 km of rail trail on the https://www.facebook.com/175620579188001 Kettle Valley Rail https://www.facebook.com/1447374905569103 Trail - KVR Cycle https://www.facebook.com/54304159918 Tours. I help to run Trails to the Boundary which helps maintain 155 km, and the Trails BC website is a plethora of info to plan a trip. I recommend 2.4 tires however as the trail surface is rough due to motorized use. It's a great trip.
Can anyone recommend a bike assembly shop? Hello everyone! I just purchased two bikes and have them in boxes. I called Bicycle Space and they quoted me at $100 each! Is...

That's a reasonable quote given the amount of labor involved. FYI for the future: No assembly needed if you buy local.
guttertothestars replied:
The Bike Rack (Logan Circle or Brookland) does builds for $75. Disclosure: Employee.
stolenbikesdc replied:
I think District Hardware and Bikes will do assembly at $85 each. I'd call and double check though.

That sounds about right. I have some free time this weekend so I can show you how to put them together. I bought two bikes off the web and built them up myself, it's a fairly straightforward process.

REI did mine for $60! Don't listen to these elitists, the local shops here charge out the ass for bikes. Plus the second they find out you bought online they'll up charge you.
New to the group and not sure if mtn biking fits in, but my wife and I just got bikes and are looking for suggestions on where to ride! We've been to Duthie Hill, but...

Not a biker but the Surveyor's Ridge Trail east of Mt Hood in Oregon is one I have shared with bikers multiple times. They all have big, stupid grins on their faces when they pass me :P. I would suggest going up Dog River, and down Oak Ridge. If I wanted a great challenge, that's where I would go. Also, don't forget about the McKenzie River Trail in central Oregon, consistently rated as one of the best MTB trails in the US. http://www.mtbproject.com/trail/3682158

Soaring Eagle, Grand Ridge (both adjacent to Duthie), Henry's Ridge (near Black Diamond), St. Edwards and Finn Hill (Kenmore/Bothell), Paradise Valley Reserve (near Maltby). Also check Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance website for routes/maps and rating on all the above and much much more. Welcome to the fun of MTB!

East Tiger Mountain from highway 18 has a lot of flowy trails with good elevation change for a good workout. Most close Oct. 15 so get on it EMBA has maps and descriptions on line.
Can anyone recommend a bicycle repair shop in DC? As above, I'm only really familiar with CityBikes and wanted to see if others came recommended.

I'm a big fan of Bicycle Space on 7 th and NY NW. They really know their stuff, are friendly, and don't gouge you.
the5nowman replied:
Bicycle Space. Hands down. I've had them fix small things, gone in there to buy new things, had them do an insurance quote for a wrecked bike, or even just chat with them. Super friendly, good prices, and very involved with the community.

I always, ALWAYZ, went to District Hardware at 1108 24 th St. Neils an awesome guy and awesome mechanic who's very clear and concise. I can't recommend them enough.
abort_abort replied:
Granted I've never gone anywhere else, but I've always had good experiences at Capitol Hill Bikes. Sometimes there's a wait to get a tune-up though. 719 8 th St SE (Barracks Row).

When I lived in the district proper, I went to the Bike Rack on Q St., where they were really nice and once hammered out a bent sprocket after I hit it on a really tall curb, and they didn't even charge me. I just left a nice tip. These days, I've been going to Silver Cycles on Georgia Ave. in Silver Spring, and they seem pretty nice so far too.
