FiveTen's, KO's, and OLLO's are commonly recommended. Here's a comparison of the different FiveTen's. http://fiveten.com/community/blog-detail/12341-whats-the Here's a link to the KO's. http://www.knowobstacles.com/Shoe And here's a link to the OLLO's. http://www.ollopk.com/ I trained in some garbage shoes with like...1% grip for the longest time. Just recently switched over to another pair of shoes that have more grip...It was weird training with so much grip, so I ended up intentionally wearing them down. It definitely helped my landing technique, since I didn't depend on the grip of the shoes. Moral of the story: Find anything that feels good for you to train in. Some running shoes tend to have tons of jags and lumps that get in the way of rail precisions, so those can be bad. They're also highly cushioned, which I'm pretty sure results in lazy landing technique. Parkour specific shoes are great, but tend to be a little expensive. I generally like to feel the ground or rails. So any pair of shoes with relatively flat bottoms work just fine.

I just found them on Amazon for $65, in my size as well. And in red. Sweet. I even found a good review specifically using them for parkour. http://www.flipyeahparkour.com/2013/01/evolv-cruzer-review/ He compares them to feiyues and has used them for hiking...Both things I like. And they also happen to be climbing shoes. Yeah I'm getting these on my next paycheck. It will be the most I have spent on shoes in years. :D Thanks Christopher for posting these.

I had good work done by the shoe shop in Dupont next to Big Hunt. About $75 for leather half-soles and vibram heels on a pair of Allen Edmonds, done twice so far and held up well. Also, does asking about a shoe repair count for resetting the tailor counter?

Bedo's Leatherworks is the best around, although out in Virginia. Id reach out to them and see what pricing would be like. You can check their instagram page to see the quality and variety of work that they do.

I had a pair of women's boot resoled at Divine Shine in Shaw. It pretty much was one layer away from a complete hole. I believe it was $60.
