My guy, Jack Sparrow, has been going to Red Dog for a few years now, and he has a blast. Yes, it is a big facility, but they separate the dogs into groups based on energy level. Jack has made many friends there. Give them a go. I think you'll be happy.

For Monday - Friday dogwalking, we've been using Chris Kelley for 7 years. He is so totally reliable, helps out in a pinch, is reasonable, and can also board your dog at his house. Only thing he can't do is stay over at your place. Can't recommend him highly enough: cell: 617.460.2564; email: rockdogs18@gmail.com. You can tell him we recommended you.
Can anybody recommend a good daycare in East Boston for a 1 year old? Preferably someplace with a good child-to-teacher ratio and the kids are given activities (instead...

The Y starts at 15 months! First step fill out a waitlist form at the welcome center. I'm back from vacation the 11 th and can arrange a tour of the facility, I'm the early ed director. You can call me at 617-418-8330

Sure it's from Child Care Choices of Boston and they run the voucher program, but even if you don't qualify for assistance, you can call and they will send you a referral search. Mine is based on a 5 mile radius from Jeffries point (so it includes some Chelsea and Boston too) and it is only group care (I was not interested in daycare out of someone's home...my personal opinion). It's a PDF; let me see if I can PM it to you.
Lindsay F. replied:
The East Boston Social Center starts at 15 months, the Chelsea location takes infants. If you're looking for a center in Eastie for infant, it's limited to Shining Stars. Very disappointing.

Im a Family Advocate for E.B. Head Start, we have give pre-schools, it is income base, and need of the family, We have an extensive waiting list...but our site on Condor Street houses our infants with one toddler classroom,(3 months to 5 yrs.) my question to you is do you have a voucher? Or have you applied for a voucher...to qualify for a voucher you need to be either in school or employed or both and totaling 30 minimum...you can apply and bring in all of your documentation(proof of residency, income, birth certificate for child, updated physical and vaccination record including TB test ) you apply out of our main office located 80 Lexington st. Call to make an appointment with our ERSEA specialist her name is Elizabeth Herrera, or ask to speak with the program supervisor her name is Ismerai Escobedo
Lindsay F. replied:
Harbor City Kids did start with mom's organizing. When I had my daughter 11 months ago, it made me wish I had an early childhood education background so I had some feet to stand on with getting a center in Eastie started! Sadly, I'm an accountant. If others want to get on board, I'm happy to run the financial end of our new infant daycare center! Ha.
Desiree P. replied:
Firstly, you shouldn't feel bad about looking for childcare at any age. Secondly, have you considered a nanny? That's what I do and I got my job (I've been with the family for 5 years) through care.com, they do background checks. Good luck to you!
Katie K. replied:
Harbor City School starts at 2.9. I've heard from a few families that liked Little Folks for the most part, but they also start at 15 months. My Early Intervention providers highly recommended the Jeffries Point Child Care Center.
Can anyone recommend a home day care in the Roslindale area?
Alicia R. replied:
First Step Family Childcare on the WROx/Roslindale line. Unlike most family childcare facilities, Parisa (the owner) has 2 and sometimes 3 staff assistants (in addition to herself!) so the children get lots of one-one-one attention. Parisa used to be a preschool teacher and has an amazing ability to identify children's needs as well as their strengths and weaknesses. You can message me if you want more info.
