I need an endocrinologist in or around Cumming. Any suggestions?
Jenny C. replied:
I had no luck in the Cumming area. I found a great one in Sandy Springs. Dr. Judson Black.
Kim-Marie B. replied:
Dr Michael Milton is excellent. He is not an endocrinologist but he specializes in caring for thyroid patients. I went to supposedly "the best" endocrinologist for 7 years in Atlanta. He wasted my time and money. I ended up in a thyroid storm...spent a week in the hospital with a heart rate in the 120-180's. Finally found Dr Milton after that episode and he fixed me up. I have been well since. He doesn't take insurance but is worth every penny!
Sandy B. replied:
Dr. Suzy Estes-the best (Google her)-located off Holcomb Bridge behind Ballard's Outlet-6783252250-takes some months to get an appt, but worth it. You can also call regularly to snag a cancellation.

I like two guys. David Shore at N. Atlanta endocrinology, but see him in Johns Creek instead of Lawrenceville. Also Dr Scott Isaacs but he is in Sandy Springs.
Keith P. replied:
I've been seeing Dr. Kevin Brown for a few years now for hypothyroidism. I would recommend him. Very thorough. Types out in detail what we talk about at each visit. If it takes awhile to get an appointment I would recommend keeping a journal of what's going on. Sleep patterns, diet patterns, aches, pains, mood swings, etc.
Philip P. replied:

Follow -- I go to Rachel Derr at the Perimeter. Terrible getting there, expensive to park, appointments impossible...and she spends 15 minutes talking about drugs...the end.
Sherri J. replied:
I've been seeing Dr. Borrego in SugarHill. He's an internist and he uses a holistic approach for treatment. My numbers are low normal for t3/t4 and he put me on dessicated thyroid meds. I'm currently taking NatureThroid.

Sarah G. replied:
We see Dr. Briana Patterson at CHOA in Atlanta. We used to go to Forsyth but found that it was quicker to drive to Atlanta then it was to wait at the one in Forsyth. We were always there for hours!! Plus my poor daughter had a horrible experience with blood work every single time. Atlanta is worth the drive!
Andee M. replied:
We see Dr. Van Meter he is pediatric only and is amazing. Office staff is great, you actually get a person not a recording when you call. After hours response is within minutes. Dr. Bode is on the same floor as Van Meter and I have several friends that see him and I've only heard good things about him. We live off Post Rd. and it takes us about 50 mins to get there.
Denise B. replied:
Dr. Bernard is amazing! And his office staff is super helpful! They have gone oit of their way to keep me from having to run to the office like having camp kudzu forms on hand which they filled out and sent in for me when we signed up last minute last year. I also love that he always tells my daughter that his goal is for her to know more about T1 than he does so that she can do more than manage it. And he always listens to our struggles and concerns etc.
Meg S. replied:
Dr. Hutchins with Children's. She is new. We've tried all others, who said they couldn't figure out what was wrong with our child. She is amazing!

I love Dr Waxweiler at North Atlanta Dermatology. He's been seeing my son since July of last year because of severe ezcema on his body and pretty badly on his face. Dr Waxweiler is so caring and compassionate. He takes the time to listen to me freak out about my babies skin - and then will look at EVERY single flareup on his body. I highly recommend him
Carol H. replied:
Dr. Gross at GA Dermatology helped me with a difficult skin issue for my 3 year old. CHOA & pediatrician missed diagnosed it. He also provided a letter & documentation needed for daycare. She had a viral rash that last for 9 weeks. (It wasn't contagious when she had the rash)
Coley F. replied:
We saw Dr. Trish Daily. We really liked her. But we had allergy test done on my son and found out he was allergic to peanuts. When we took him off them, his eczema symptoms disappeared. It now only flares up when he eats peanuts ( which isn't often). Not sure if that is what it could be but wouldn't hurt to possibly explore.

Dana P. replied:
Dr Amit Dua with Cumming Family Medicine. My dad saw him after 6 months of not doing very well. He is his regular physician. He knew what was wrong with dad but had to send him for test then on to another doctor. There are some that will try to say not so nice things about him but in my opinion he is the best especially when he actually diagnosed my dad with no test. He had to do the test to confirm diagnosis.
I need recommendations for a 'great' endocrinologist in the area...Cumming, Alpharetta or Roswell. Thyroid in particular. Thanks..

Alicia B. replied:
Dr. Chip Reed off Holcomb Bridge. Look him up, he is considered to be one if the best in the country. His PA Donnie is great too
Pam S. replied:
2 nd Dr Chip Reed and Dr Miguel Munoz in Roswell. They are fantastic. Their entire staff treat you like family. My MIL passed away in December. Between her and her Mother, I believe the Shepard and Minhinnette family have seen Dr Reed since he began his practice. Donnie is wonderful as well. She always returns your call promptly and listens well to your concerns.
Also needing some endocrinologist recommendations, especially thyroid Specifically one that is very thorough and doesn't just go off bloodwork only.

Recommendations for a pediatric endocrinologist that accepts Ambetter? We were with Dr Bernard and I love his manners and gentleness with me but unfortunately he does...
Ashley H. replied:
Unfortunately there's not many pediatric endo's in Forsyth. We currently see Dr Vanmeter off Howell Mill. Check and see if his practice takes your insurance. There's also the CHOA practice but last time I inquired there was a wait list.
Kimberly F. replied:
Hi kayla, the person that said choa doesn’t come to Forsyth is wrong. You can see a choa pediatric endocrinologist at the Forsyth specialty care (attached to urgent care at the collection). They also come to north point in Alpharetta and satellite boulevard in Duluth. Unfortunately they won’t refill your meds until they have seen you as a patient (standard practice for all doctors), but maybe your primary doctor would prescribe enough to get you through until your endo appointment. https://www.choa.org/medical-services/endocrinology?gclid=CjwKCAiAhMLSBRBJEiwAlFrsTmgSwkIZcd2 rmpEcItwN8M3 tHUfWqX96_Ykii6 i01YxxFfu1 q77QrBoCG1 sQAvD_BwE
In search of a Truly Good Endocrinologist! I was diagnosed years ago with thyroid disease, but it’s never been under control!
Please tell me why you think they’re so...
Laura M. replied:
Dawn Smiley-Bird. She is very thorough and she truly listens. I have never felt rushed...and she was able to get to the bottom of my symptoms to get a real diagnosis. She has been life changing for me. I finally feel better than I have in several years.
Cindy K. replied:
Chip Reed, Southeastern Endocrinology! I was diagnosed with thyroid issues at 30 and several other dctrs wanted to remove thyroid immediately. Dr Reed was patient and thorough and treated my condition without surgery. A few years later he noticed changes and biopsied thyroid and found thyroid cancer. It was removed, cancer gone, and i am still treating with him 15 yrs laters for checkups. Only downfall is takes awhile to get appt but if urgent can be scheduled in for visit.
Krystine M. replied:
Soodini and that practice is a joke! I would travel to northeast Georgia diagnostic clinic in Gainesville they are amazing Dr. Welch and the staff care! And trust me we went from Emory Endo’s to NSF and the best is in Gainesville! The running around and bs stopped and they did the ultra sounds and biopsies and got the dosage right on my wife’s meds!

Join 'Stop The Thyroid Madness' group here on FB. I had a golf ball sized tumor on my thyroid...had to have it removed. Was on Synthroid for a few years because it is the 'go to' medicine. Gained a ton of weight, developed near debilitating depression, fatigue, insomnia. I learned about what results to demand from my doctor, what questions to ask and most importantly, I learned about Armor Thyroid as an option to Synthroid. I lost the weight, no more depression, fatigue or insomnia. Good luck!
