This is a good sticker. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php... Timeline Photos Even well-meaning doctors are often uninformed about proper care of intact male ...genitals. Myths about natural male anatomy persist, in American culture and in the medical community. Premature, forcible retraction of children's foreskins is all too common. Protect your son! Tell his doctor at the beginning of check-ups not to retract his foreskin. There is no need for a doctor to manipulate your child's prepuce in any way. Institute a "diaper-on" policy for well visits, if necessary. Make sure that all caregivers (daycare workers, babysitters, family & friends) who bathe your son or change your his diaper are well-versed in intact care. Does anyone know of a vegan friendly family doctor in the area. Pretty sure our doctor thinks we are insane.
Thanks!
Tinney N. replied:
Our vegan family loves Dr Teresa Evans in Wallingford. She's a naturopath. She's not Vegan, but is very supportive, and has never questioned our being vegan, even while we're trying to get pregnant.
Kamini R. replied:
Our doctor is a naturopath too, and so far has always supported my vegan lifestyle even though I don't think she is vegan. She is Dr.Kim Celmer at the Institute of Complementary Medicine at Swedish. She just makes sure I have my blood work done every 3-6 months to track B-12 and Vit D etc. I love her.
Becky G. replied:
Dr. Stephanie White in Monroe:)
Billy S. replied:
I see Dr. Antonius Mulia at Polyclinic in Seattle. He's not vegan, but barely batted an eye when I said I became vegan.
Liz W. replied:
Im happy with Mary Wieruz at Group Health in Northgate.
MJ C. replied:
I too downloaded the Happy Herbivore list of plant-based health care givers and as I live in downtown Seattle, I chose Dr. Mark McCabe. My husband and I found him to be very supportive and respectful. He was very knowledgable and easy to talk to and took his time during our visits. A refreshing change!
Renee P. replied:
Dr Marc McCabe at The Polyclinic IS VEGAN. He is an MD. He is also the creator of www.dharmadoctors.org He is also a really nice guy and encourages using a plant based diet as one of the first tools to finding good health. As any good doctor should:) http://www.polyclinic.com/mccabe_mark_o_md
Will J. replied:
We see Kristen Andrews at Polyclinic. She isn't vegan but she's very supportive and it's covered by most instances I think.
Leah D. replied:
I had an ND as my primary for years but recently decided to switch back to an MD. I now see Sue Paik at the Polyclinic Northgate. At my first visit, we discussed my vegan diet, and she was supportive and talked about how she believes that food strongly influences health. Not sure what she eats herself, but that's not really important to me. I find her to be very thorough and easy to talk to. We discussed my lipid panel results and vit B12 and vit D results in detail, and she is supportive of me continuing to do what I am doing since it's keeping me healthy! I've actually found that same attitude and thoroughness in every provider I have seen through the PolyClinic system. http://www.polyclinic.com/dr_sue_paik
This was shared with me in a message. PLEASE read the entire post. Thank you in advance for any recommendations for a family practice physician. - Lien...
Mary P. replied:
Try Dr. Falkenberg at Richmond Pediatrics. http://www.richmond-pediatrics.com/physicians_staff/
Shawnaci P. replied:
All five of my son love Jeffrey Ernst at Richmond Pediatrics
Kerri B. replied:
We vaccinate, but both my kids have had Dr. Ernst and Rich Peds for over eleven years. No issues. Dr. Ernst is very sweet.
Rebekah H. replied:
I would strongly caution against dr. Doroshow. We had a horrible experience with her. She actually said to my daughter, as she was stitching her eyebrow, and my silent & still eight year old had tears running down her face, "Why are you crying? Do you cry when you don't get what you want for dinner?" That is a straight quote from the doctor's mouth. I hope she was having the worst day of her life & she would never treat another child the way she treated mine that day, but I wouldn't trust my kids to her care. I recommend Dr. Filipo, Dr. Bratt, Dr. Alberda or Dr. Grimm at N. Seattle Pediatrics. I wouldn't recommend Dr. Kelso & Dr. Siru at thesame practice as they are not respectful of a delayed vaccine schedule.
Carla H. replied:
My kids were with Dr. Doroshow until they outgrew her! We loved her and she still recognizes us if we see her somewhere smile emoticon
Kayla P. replied:
I too strongly recommend Carol Doroshow and April Rodriguez at The Kids Clinic. We love them.
Lindsay B. replied:
Dr Annie Reese at Richmond pediatric. Dr Faulkenberg totally ridiculed us for not vaccinating at that time. Dr Reese has been great.
Jeanne R. replied:
Dr. Carol Doroshow at the Kid's Clinic http://thekidsclinic.us/
Laura D. replied:
Any of the pediatricians at the Northgate Poly Clinic.
Llyra M. replied:
Dr. Doroshow at the Kids Clinic
Karin C. replied:
I agree ~ Dr. Falkenberg@Richmond Beach Peds. She treated our daughter (23 now) who has disabilities up until her 23 rd birthday. She always respected us, her parents, and the decisions we made regarding her treatment. She is kind and compassionate.
Holly D. replied:
Is Richmond Peds in the same bldg as Richmond Clinic? Or just next door?
Lori C. replied:
We use to see Dr Agnes Wong at Swedish Children's Clinic in Edmonds. I highly recommend her in every way.
Hello neighbors, does anyone have a family doctor they love? We have been going to Pac Med Beacon Hill but can never get a same day sick appointment with the doctor....
Kat H. replied:
Walgreens just started a Swedish clinic at their Genesee and Rainier location. We used one before because my daughter had pink eye and I didn't want to go over to Queen Anne for her regular doctor. You can find an appointment online and fill out most of your info that way too.
Samara L. replied:
We see Dr Duke at Swedish Cherry Hill. I can't always get same day appointments with her, but I always get in to see someone that same day. And I like all the doctors. Plus parking is relatively easy to find. We used to go to Odessa Brown, and we switched after many experiences just like what you are describing. Dr Duke is amazing, FYI. She's so down to earth. She sees my older parents, my husband, my sister and my kids. I love that she knows the whole family history.
Marty W. replied:
Swedish Family Medicine-First Hill right across the street from the hospital at 1401 Madison Street is where both my son and I go and we can always get in same day when an issue happens. The staff is extremely friendly and we love the nurses. They are open 8:30 am-5 pm. Phone #-386-6111. --Patty
Kathy B. replied:
I go to the UW Belltown clinic and can almost always get a same day appointment. They also have a location in Factoria: http://www.uwmedicine.org/neighborhood-clinics.
Sharon E. replied:
Thanks, all. We went to the new Swedish clinic in Walgreens at Genesee/Rainier, and though it took an hour, I'm glad we went because my son possibly has a MRSA infection so we can start antibiotics and follow up with primary care next week. I appreciate all these recommendations because although I love the people at Pac Med, I'm open to looking at more efficient options
Beth D. replied:
I like Dr. Do at Swedish downtown, but I don't think you can get a same day appointment unless you're lucky and somebody cancelled. I had a good experience at Group Health's urgent care clinic on Cap Hill a couple of weeks back. The wait was long, as to be expected, but they figured everything out for me quickly once I saw the doctor.
Ashley D. replied:
Country Doc on Capitol Hill might ge s good option for same day urgent care.
Katie B. replied:
I am likely biased but I love the provider I see here at Virginia Mason. I'm always able to get same day appointments, though not always with her. A few weeks ago, though, she did squeeze me into her schedule when there weren't actual open slots. I've had the same experience with my daughter's doctors at the VM clinic in U Village.
Hi all, I'm looking for a recommendation for a doctor for myself. General or family practice. Thank you! Edited to add, I'd love naturopath recs, too. :)
Thyra M. replied:
Dr. Wesch at Magnolia Swedish. She's wonderful. Takes time with each patient, explains things so you can understand & offers alternative solutions rather than instantly writing a prescription.
Elizabeth D. replied:
I have loved Dr. Maggie Emanuel at Swedish Ballard. She is family practice and delivered my little boy in December and is also his pediatrician.
Jessica A. replied:
Dr, Yuskitis in Swedish Magnolia I love love love. I actually switched from Wesch to him
Ruth H. replied:
Being vegan it was important to me to also see a vegan Naturopath (the non-vegan I saw before wanted me to take fish-oil supplements and eat bone marrow soup!). I highly recommend Dr. Chris Kozura from Seattle Natural Family and Sports Medicine. Bonus: his wife Eva is an excellent Chinese acupuncturist, they work in the same praxis.
Katie B. replied:
I love these ND suggestions and would also throw my own name in. I'm slightly newer in practice (6 1/2 years), which means my schedule is frequently more readily available. I'm also in on evenings and weekends. Please drop me a note via our website (www.stoneturtlehealth.com) if you have any questions.
Deidre I. replied:
Gerald Rossellini at UW Hall Health. He's the doctor for our entire family.
Anthony A. replied:
Dr. Mark Moscovitz at Swedish Ballard handled our pregnancy, and is our pediatrician. He now handles all of our needs for family medicine. Highly recommended.
Cindy S. replied:
I second Dr Wesch
Stephanie G. replied:
I really like Dr. Wesch, but she wasn't accepting patients last I checked (that was November). That lead me to Dr. Clara Chan at Queen Anne Swedish clinic. I was recommended to see her because she is breasfeeding friendly/sensitive/respectful and is amazing. She really took the time to listen to what I had to say and gave me a lot of credit for knowing my body and self. She took the time to hear me out, explain how the mechanics of what was going on worked, what her suggested care plan was, and recommended check ups. It has been the best relationship I've ever had with a PCP.
Yvonne C. replied:
Naturopathic Family Medicine in Fremont. They specialize in peds and women's health. Take time with you and are very knowledgeable and have great bedside manner!
Angela C. replied:
If you're sporty, Dr. Mitchle Peterson at polyclinic is awesome.
Just moved from TriCities to Spanaway & need to find a family practice MD & an OBgyn... any reccommendations?? (BTW-I want the choice of elective C-section)

Jessica P. replied:
Krista, we see Dr. Suzanne Fiala on California. She does woman and kids. No hubbies. However, she is amazing. She practices both holistic and western medicine (when needed). This is very important to my family because we don't believe a antibiotic is the first course of action when the kids are ill. She has 5 kids of her own and has a very calm soothing bedside manner. I love her holistic approach!
Krista M. replied:
Jessica Pierce! Check your mailbox.
Mary D. replied:
I have heard great things about Dr. Fiala although I've not seen her myself.
Aly R. replied:
If you don't mind the drive, Dr. Gugel at Northgate Polyclinic family med. I LOVED working for her, she has the same common practices as Dr. Fiala. I was heartbroken when I moved to Virginia and had to leave. Also, they are open late and Saturdays. Good luck Krista!! I miss you and your kids dearly! Hope all is well.
Lonjina V. replied:
Dr. Oldfield at West Seattle Natural Medicine
Adrienne D. replied:
I just do not know what to think about the ShareCare. . . I love Dr. F, but it seems so crazy; like paying a monthly gym fee for your doctor. . .
Jennie F. replied:
Not that I know anything about West Seattle doctors, but if you are interested in yoga, a great friend of mine from high school has a yoga studio I think in the west Seattle area. His name is Joel Benjamin and his studio is Yogasmith. He set up a Facebook page for his studio. Again, not having anything to do with a family doctor, but Joel is super cool and I'm guessing his studio is fantastic.
Brenda H. replied:
I like Dr Summerfield at Swedish WS.
Dana V. replied:
Krista- I have been going to Dr. Cynthia Taylor for 11 years. She is an MD but I don't hold that against her She left her other practice because she didn't like the unrealistic time constraints of the "15" minute appts. She loves to educate and share her knowledge- and is quite holistic (not quick with the meds), and really personable. I highly recommend her. She does family care so can see the whole family. She is on Ambaum in Burien.
Kristin H. replied:
I like Dr. Okorn too, Jane Foster, though I mostly know her outside of Dr-ing; she has twins so I see her at twins club events! She does seems really nice! I know for awhile she was working only a few days a week (so hard to see sometime) but that may have changed. We've had good luck recently at West Seattle Natural Medicine, too.
Lonjina V. replied:
Jane FosterDr. Okorn delivered my babies! I've been seeing her forever, but haven't actually been to a Dr. in 2....
Melissa C. replied:
Dr Campbell at WS natural Med is really nice. Dr Dagger at Swedish.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a family practice doctor. We currently see Dr. Cahn in Fremont, since he was nearby our last house, but it's quite a drive out...
Suzanne W. replied:
Ari Gilmore at PacMed Beacon Hill is super.
Ariel H. replied:
The Columbia City Stroller Brigade might have some great input

Letha H. replied:
I had a not great experience with Ari Gilmore several years ago, and a friend randomly told me the same. But I used to go to ginger ruddy there, not sure if she is back from sabbatical. She was great. And I got a reco to the women at that practice from my midwives. Can't remember the dr's name.
Jenifer L. replied:
I love my OB/GYN, Dr. Friele, at Swedish (Cherry Hill). And both of our primary physicians, Dr. Mayhill and Dr. Capp (of Swedish Central Clinic) are just as awesome too! Been seeing Dr. Friele for 20+ years now, and kids have been seeing the other docs with great bedside manners, easy scheduling, and very up-to-date info/responses for almost all my inquiries.
Meredith N. replied:
Dr Cahn has been my doc for 15 years and now my daughters pediatrician. I wouldn't give him up for the world!! And yes, though we live in CC, I gave birth in Ballard and you don't make the drive that many times with a new baby to see Dr Cahn.
Amanda S. replied:
Dr Kim at neighborcare rainier beach. She's awesome!

Beth Q. replied:
Hi Janice, yes, I can recommend Dr. Marie Flores (family practice) or Dr. Rabinowitz and other doctors at Seahurst Pediatrics.

Kelly S. replied:
I love Sara Waterman at PacMed Beacon Hill. I have seen her for 18 years and both my husband and two boys see her as well.
Marty W. replied:
I love the doctors and staff at Swedish Family Medicine First Hill by the main Swedish Hospital. They are great about same day appointments if needed and the nurses are very sweet and knowledgeable. It's is a teaching hospital so most doctors are residents in training for up to 3 years, but anybody in the group can see you and most are excellent doctors.
