Counselors / psychiatrists in Seattle? Curious to see if anybody has a recommendation for a good counselor or psychiatrist in the Seattle area.
Thanks.

If you feel comfortable doing so, it might help if you edit your post to include what kind of counselor you are looking for or if there is a specific thing you are looking for help with (depression, anxiety, grief/loss, relationship, general life stuff, etc) and whether you are looking to go through insurance or are willing to pay out of pocket. That may help people provide better recommendations. You are probably asking here so you get actual recommendations from people who have worked with these providers, but if you are also just looking for names, Psychology Today has a “Find a Therapist” tool on their website where you can search with filters for your zip code, insurance type, specialty, gender. I work in the mental health field and hear a lot from people about the ridiculous wait times for new patient appointments with psychiatrists (sometimes 6+ weeks). It might be worth it to look into psychiatric ARNPs as well, as sometimes they have better availability.

What's your insurance?
ieatbabiesomnomnom replied:
What type of insurance do you have? There's a psychiatric ARNP at Shifa Health up in Everett that is absolutely fantastic. Her name is Nancy Turner. They don't accept Medicaid but do accept a lot of other insurances.

Seattle folks: I'm trying to find a good psychiatrist/counselor that accepts Apple Health (Medicaid)–preferably in/near Ballard. ideas?
Ardaniel replied:
I think Apple Health does MH through regional (county) services networks: http://www.kingcounty.gov/healthservices/MentalHealth/Resources/ProvidersAll.aspx
Ardaniel replied:
But if you got into Apple Health via a specific insurance provider, you should call them and ask too.

I used to see a black counselor at Group Health. She left to work for Swedish. I'll look online to see if she hasn't retired.

I would also add Abby Myers. She is a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Her husband Jed Myers is also an awesome psychiatrist who I have found to be very good with medicating people who are super sens. to meds.
Does anyone have a good female psychologist/psychiatrist/nurse practitioner to recommend for a 30 year old? Would not have to be in the CC area.

I like Dr. Soeprono at Wellspring on Rainier. I think she's on temporary leave, but her fill in (Dr. Crowley), is also great. I used to be very hesitant about mental health practitioners after some bad experiences when I was younger, but I couldn't be happier with them. They've always taken my concerns and needs seriously and have never been patronizing or offputting. I'd recommend Soeprono or Crowley to anybody. I think they also have therapists in that office, but I go to their downtown office when I need a counselor/therapist.
