Can anyone please recommend a good pediatric orthopedic surgeon either in or around Flower Mound? Thanks!
Mary S. replied:
Dr Kennedy with Cooks children.. Wonderful
Donna S. replied:
Dr. Brown and Dr. Capelo in Gapevine and at Medical City. They are indeed Pediatric Orthopaedists. They do not treat adults.

My son broke his wrist during football practice on Sep. 4 th. His doctor had us go to OrthoTexas. Their main office is in Carrollton but they do have a satellite office in FloMo. We ended up going to the Carrollton office cause they could get him in right away. My son saw Dr. Neagle. He and I both loved him. The rest of the staff was really nice also. Here's their #972.492.7909 (at Parker & Josey)
Michele V. replied:
All the docs at Ortho Texas are great! Dr. Goodhart is awesome and he works out of Flo Mo office.
Gypsy C. replied:
I ran pediatric and Orthopedic clinics for 15 years, most of those years being in DFW. There are NO "true" pediatric orthopedic surgeons in our area. The closets is in Plano. While most adult orthopedic surgeons can treat children, there are certain ortho problems/injuries that children develop that should be treated by a dedicated pediatric specialist. The closets and most comprehensive program is at Scottish Rite in Plano. http://www.pediatricsportsmedicine.org/
Troye S. replied:
Ortho Texas is where we always took my daughter for sports injuries. Dr Wheeless was who she always saw and he is great. He also helped my husband avoid surgery on his broken collar bone. I've seen Dr Graehl and had 2 surgeries w Dr Neagle. We go to Carrollton bc we can get in faster.
Franki M. replied:
Dr Nichols in grapevine. Great doctor
Andrea C. replied:
Dr. Capelo in Grapevine is excellent and has wonderful bedside manner. He started treating my daughter at 3 mos and we love him!
Karen M. replied:
Go to Scottish Rite Hospital or Children's in Dallas. It is worth the 30 minute drive to see a pediatric specialist. The doctors specialize in different ortho areas. Our son used Dr. Daniel Sucato at Scottish Rite Hospital for a broken femur. Awesome doctor; cant say enough good about him.
Kelley M. replied:
Scottish Rite is the BEST place to go for pediatric Orthopedics!! They are the leading experts in care and research!! My son started going there when he was four!! They truly are amazing!!
Michele H. replied:
The Scottish Rite doctors are on staff at Children's. I have been to both Dallas and Plano Hospitals and highly recommend the Plano Hospital.
Do not go to Dr. Wilkovsky at Ortho Associates. He does not give thorough post care information which results in extensive physical therapy afterwards.
Kellie C. replied:
My son went to Dr. Troum at Texas Orthopedic Specialists in Bedford. He's a highly recommended hand surgeon. Highly recommended!!!
hi. i am looking for a good orthopedic surgeon for my back. Not looking for a chiropractor or pill pusher, but a good back doctor who can really figure out what is going...

David B. replied:
My wife and I have both had cervical spine surgeries with Dr. Tompkins. He's a neurosurgeon and I recommend that kind of surgeon for anything spine related. We've both had very complex cervical fusions and Dr. Tompkins has been amazing. He does have a FM office but sees patients in Plano and Carrollton.
Paul P. replied:
Dr. Douglas Won, one of the best in the area.
Jim S. replied:
Rob Dickerman Plano Presby
Jennifer B. replied:
I also recommend Dr Thompkins. He did my husband's disk replacement and is about to do his bulging disk surgery. He is one of the top surgeons in his field.
Chris O. replied:
My sister used Dr Isador Lieberman at Texas Back Institute. He's good.
Sarah V. replied:
Dr. Kibuule with Spine Team Southlake is great. I can't say enough good things about him and the staff at Spine Team. After going to Texas Back Institute and Carrel Clinic and feeling hopeless and just like a number, the staff at Spine Team understood and worked hard to help manage my pain (without meds) through injection shots and working with a physiatrist. When it finally came time for surgery, Dr. Kibuule was great. I had my surgery Dec. 2014 and am much better. My PT with them was great, and they continue to follow up because I have ongoing disc issues. They have everything all in one place, so the whole team can communicate together, and I found that to be refreshing. It built my case for surgery, which I'm glad I had!
Madeline M. replied:
Dr. Neil Shah Best spine doc out there! Very conservative...will not recommend surgery unless absolutely necessary and has a great rehabilitation team he works with!
Tabitha P. replied:
I had a 360 spinal fusion two years ago. Dr. Mignucci in Plano. Neurosurgeon. Amazing. Message me if you want more info. Good luck
Elizabeth B. replied:
I used Dr. Good hart with Orthotexas for my knee, and I really liked their practice. They treated a variety of methods before doing surgery. I don't think he does backs specifically, but I am sure someone in their practice does.
Stacy F. replied:
Dr. Richard Guyer at Texas Back Institute. He did my spinal surgery in 2009 and I have been pain free ever since. He's amazing and he's also a really nice guy.
LauriAnn C. replied:
Dr. Tolhurst at Texas Back Institute across from FM Presby. He did my spine fusion in August. We started with a conservative approach and tried to avoid surgery. He has a great beside manner and does not push pills. I always feel like a person that can express my concerns and have them heard rather than just another patient in and out of the room.
Brenda J. replied:
Dr Giseler doesn't push pills, uses PT first, then goes from there.
Laurie A. replied:
Dr. Jon Krummerman. Operated on me in October. I am back to being pain free! Awesome bed side manner and amazing surgeon
Theresa S. replied:
Fortunately, I have never had a need to use him but Dr. Geisler isn't a back specialist and I hear wonderful things about him.
Again, so for the repeat, but any recommendations for a great orthopedic surgeon in the area?
Brenda J. replied:
I have used several doctors at Orthopedic Associates.
Cheryl S. replied:
Dr Meister at TMI Sports Medicine in Arlington.
Barbara B. replied:
Ortho Associates. You may get more specific recommendations if you want to share your body-part need.
Barb S. replied:
Orthopedic Associates972/420-1776... Dr Giesler for backs; Dr Evanich or Heerwagen for knees & hips; Dr Cantrell for shoulders.
Barbara B. replied:
Gina, you want Dr. Michael Willinborg. He's the foot and ankle specialist at Ortho and he's fabulous.
Chris Y. replied:
Dr. Cantrell at Orthopedic Associates has performed 3 of my surgeries. He even went as far as following up with me on his own time on the weekend when he was with his family!! The BEST doctor period. When you have that dream of what a Doctor should be, Jeffrey Cantrell is the one!!!

Check with Foster Chiropractic
Christine E. replied:
Dr James Guess at Orthotexas is a back (life) saver!
Annie H. replied:
I actually just started seeing a Dr at Carmack Chiropractic and Sports Therapy for this. I didn't know I had SI joint issues, just knew I couldn't move anymore! Driving became one of my major triggers also. This is so painful, I'm sorry you're dealing with it. But after only a couple of visits so far, Dr. Dixie Mayfield has helped me tremendously!! My husband sees Dr. Carmack for different reasons and is very happy with him also.
Wyatt M. replied:
You might want to look up Dr Lamonaco.
Magda B. replied:
I'm so sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. I recommend Dr Ozzie. He is amazing, he also does functional medicine and he has a cold lazer to speed up the healing process, take care!! i hope you feel better soon
Stacy F. replied:
I had issues/pain in all of the same areas you described back in 2009. I went to Dr. Richard Guyer at the Texas Back Institute in Plano. We tried injections, physical therapy, etc. but nothing worked so we ended up doing surgery. I have been pain free ever since. Best decision I ever made. Dr. Guyer is amazing and I highly recommend him!
Tracy C. replied:
Justin Fortier! He is absolutely amazing! Wouldn't go to anyone else!
I am looking for advice or recommendations. I recently tore my ACL and my meniscus is bent and trapped under my knee cap. Has anyone had just their meniscus removed and...
Katie N. replied:
I had ACL surgery about 5 years ago. Very tough and long recovery but worth it. I haven’t had any issues since. Make sure to do all of the physical therapy because that is what determines if you heal. My family had bad experiences with orthopedic associate in flower mound during multiple occasions. (My dad was told his rotator cuff was torn and got a second opinion and it wasn’t). William Burns in Frisco did my surgery and I was happy with the results despite circumstances.
Tc G. replied:
I injured my ACL and Meniscus last Jan. Dr. Singhall at Orthopedic Associates replaced my ACL and repaired my meniscus. If you are active I'd have that ACL replaced. I can't imagine doing one and not the other. I am now a yr out and I'm 100%.
Stacie S. replied:
I had a torn ACL for three years and then it started trying to dislocate, I actually fell and that is a very unsettling feeling. I got mine fixed because it happened twice within a month, 3 yrs after initial injury. The first week was rough, after that no issues. My delay in repairing caused my physical therapy to be longer, as I developed a hip drop in my gait, so we had to correct that. I used Dr Daniel Cooper at the Carrell Clinic in Dallas.
Anyone have a recommendation for an orthopedic surgeon (foot specialist) and why you recommend them. Thanks.
Bob M. replied:
Dr Wilenborg at orthopedic associates on 2499 north of the hospital. I had my ankle taken care of by him as well as my toe. And my wife's toe as well. Highly recommended. Hope that heal gets better. Prayers
Kelli S. replied:
Dr. Carr Vineyard@Carrell Clinic Dallas
Tasha T. replied:
Dr. Willenborg at Orthopedic Associates My husband had a very traumatic injury (was sent home from a ski resort in New Mexico because they couldn't handle the level of trauma it was) and he had several surgeries with Dr. Willenborg. Absolutely loved his bedside manner and he was amazing throughout the entire process. Highly recommend.
Randi M. replied:
Dr Willenborg did two ankle surgeries for Jim. He is great. He just saw Rian last week for tendinitis in her ankle
Teresa L. replied:
I see Dr Mashigian here in flower Mound. He is a podiatrist and did surgery on both my feet.
Sooo anyone know of an amazing orthopedic surgeon for dogs? That might be reasonably priced to do a TPLO.
Tc G. replied:
The Emergency clinic in Southlake did our dogs yrs ago and were
Tc G. replied:
Sorry Allison mine was lrg breed too but actually only had to have the small dog version of the TPLO surgery for some reason. I think it was $1,500 but they have a specialist come in that only does that, or they used to. I'm sure my Vet friend in Lubbock would do it for 1/2 that. Its sad that around here the prices of vet care are outrageous.
Wendy C. replied:
Dr Turner...He's been around for years and is REALLY good. Most of the clinics know how to get ahold of him because he works all of the place so call any of them for his info. Dr Doolittle's definitely knows his info. Good luck!
